Steel Park Waterplay Park — Attraction in Sydney

Water play area to be avoided. The rest is pleasant park/playground and picnic but try keeping little kids away from the water. Anxious parents and grandparents on tender hooks supervising kids and aware of how badly designed this area is. Trip hazards, slip hazards, all hard surfaces, bricks. Parents commenting on how dangerous and poorly designed it is.

Two really bad kiddie accidents this morning in the space of half an hour when I was there with my grandson in the poorly designed water play area. One child tripped and fell out of the ‘water cradle’ (tub-like structure all concrete) onto the rock hard rough tiled surface below. Her head narrowly missed the brick edge. Awful. Ten minutes later a little boy slipped on the smooth tiles in the lower water section and smacked the back of his head and his tailbone on the tiles. No thanks. This Park was very good to go with the social groups having a good walking trail along to see many parenting owners with the kids to enjoy the playground along with the Waterplay to cool off during the spring & summer weather so it was very warm when we came here that there was too many insects even with a picnic & bbq area to spend time on a weekends. Great place to take kids, the water play area is really cool - when it's working... It often isn't. The signs say it shuts off automatically during high winds; not many people are aware of this and there's no way to tell if it's going to be working or not until you get there.
