{ Flower Markets } My family and I had a budget for a wake and funeral and needed to organise flowers for the event at short notice. We spent $200 on flowers and supplies to produce two pedestal bouquets, a large casket bouquet and 2 decorative displays for the food table. We would have had to spend 4 times this amount if we were to go to a conventional florist. The catch for going wholesale is that you need to be there as early as 5am to get the best stock & cuts, by 7am some of the best picks were gone. By driving in you pay $10 entry at the gate, and drive up a ramp to access public parking for the florist. When entering the wholesale floor you need to wear a high visibility vest, we weren't aware of this before hand and so the 4 of us had to pay $10 each for a vest at the door. For safety reasons, I get the reason behind this but you could always do a sneaky, and swap out a vest with someone to take turns looking through the floor or if you're especially sneaky you can go inside unnoticed. I did notice there were people roaming without a vest. Best tips is, bring an empty bucket to fill with water and put flowers in as you collect and buy. This keeps the flower hydrated and avoid early wilting. Plan ahead and decide what you want to buy, and walking around and see options before buying so you get the best value for your buck.

Sydney Markets at Flemington is a fantastic destination for everyday shoppers looking for fresh produce, flowers, clothing and all sorts of household goods. There is a huge variety of stalls and a lively atmosphere which makes it a great place to wander and stock up on bargains. One of the highlights is the Paddys Night Food Markets held on the first Saturday of every month from 6pm to 10pm. It is a fun night out with dozens of food trucks serving cuisines from around the world live entertainment and even a car show. That said the food trucks are pricey for a market setting. Expect to pay around 25 dollars for a pizza 20 dollars for a burger or steak sandwich and 15 to 20 dollars for most desserts. While the food quality is good it is a little disappointing to see restaurant prices at what people often think of as a more casual street food event. Overall though Sydney Markets remains one of the best spots in Sydney for fresh produce and a good night out at the food markets just be ready for the premium prices at the trucks.

A wonderful shopping experience. Be it to purchase fruits , vegetables , flowers , live chickens , hardware, garden stuff and lots more. This place can be easily reached by train as well. There is plenty of parking onsite , head for the terrace parking to avoid delays. You can get carts for hire at 3-4 dollars plus a deposit but you’ll have to return them to the same counter to get the refund of the deposit which can be a pain given the extra walk to and back to the parking lot. The variety of vegetables and fruits is great. Take a look around before making your purchase as you find few variations in price and quality of products. There is a sea food section as well towards the back of the market. There is a cafe in the market to refresh yourself with a coffee or light snacks. The market is open to public only on Saturdays. Head there early (market opens at 5 AM!) to get the best produce.
