Urangan Pier was a great place to spend a few hours during our family trip over the winter school holidays. We popped into Kmart to grab a hand reel, then picked up some bait from a local shop and headed straight to the pier.
From about halfway along, we could cast our lines down and actually see the fish in the clear water taking bites — it was amazing to watch! Unfortunately for us, the fish were pretty smart and managed to get away every time we hooked one, but that didn’t take away from the fun at all.

Parents please don’t let your children run OR ride down the Pier it is very dangerous along the uneven, not only for the children who hit a rut and fall of their bikes or scooters, or break an ankle, but for the pedestrians (usually oldies) they take down as collateral. Not to mention how disruptive fishermen (fisher-bros) find it. Be watchful for fishing lines and daredevil birds.
I would recommend visiting during a full moon and walking out to the end and experiencing silence, inner peace, and the awe-inspiring sparkling silvery moonlit waters...
