**Downgraded to 3 stars after my initial review below. My kids made a second visit today to try the breakfast menu. To summarise: • The smoothie bowl was basically soup and had to be abandoned halfway through. Video attached. • An additional charge was incurred to pay for the bacon on the Eggs Benedict. This is a staple component of the meal and should not be charged as an extra. Poached eggs + spinach, on Turkish, does not constitute Eggs Benedict. • A second smoothie bowl was ordered by another person but forgotten by the kitchen. After making enquiries about the missing meal, the kitchen realised their mistake. Based on the quality of the other smoothie bowl, a refund was requested. Sadly, based on the inconsistent service and food quality, it is unlikely we will return. **Original review: Visited Salt for the first time today. We were lucky to get the outdoor seating area, which allowed for a direct view of the beach and sea, as well as providing a cooling breeze. Service was prompt and friendly, and we were quickly seated upon arrival. Table water was immediately delivered, and orders were taken soon afterwards. Our group of 6 selected a range of meals, as well as thickshakes, smoothies, coffee, and iced coffee. The meals consisted of barramundi, several choices of burger, calamari bao buns, Croque Madame, and a Power Bowl. The drinks and meals were thoroughly enjoyed by nearly all, my wife's Power Bowl being the exception. Rather than arriving as a suggested bowl (akin to a poke/Buddha bowl), it was served on a dinner plate. A deconstructed offering of seemingly random items, with a small bowl of sauce as the centrepiece. Instead of enjoying an amalgam of flavours and sensations, she instead ate most of it separately; a peanut here, some salad there, etc. She was quite disappointed and didn't enjoy the experience. Ironically, she only ordered the Power Bowl because her first selection, the Pumpkin Risotto, was surprisingly out-of-stock (Monday, 11:45am start of lunch run). Additionally, she asked if sweet potato fries and aioli were possible, and was told they were. Then, when the meals were served, she instead received the menu-standard sweet potato wedges with sour cream and sweet chilli sauce. Still enjoyed, but not what she'd expected or requested. That being said, everything else was great. The rest of our party loved their meals, and my son rated his Crispy Chicken (Chipotle) burger as one of the best he's ever had. Similarly, the basil lime aioli (with my barramundi) was superb and perfectly complemented both the fish and kipfler potatoes. Overall, the venue, location, service, meals and drinks were appreciated, enjoyed, and decent value for money. Had it not been for my wife's less-than-satisfactory experience, this would have been a 5-star review.

My parents, there in there 90s, had a doctor's appointment at the local hospital, were from bundaberg so I drove them to Harvey bay and we had lunch at salt. It's the second time I have eaten there and it was excellent. We went to the pub next door and had a look at the menu and it was a disaster, Harvey bay is known for its seafood, in particular Harvey bay scallops and whiting, the pub had neither, so we walked to salt next door and the menu was much better. There were 5 of the 6 items on the menu I would have been comfortable ordering but in the end we ordered a seafood platter for 2. The platter was delicious, $95 with a bottle of wine, we hàd a sparkling white wine which complemented the seafood perfectly. It was lunch time and just as we finished my parents rang to say they were finished at the doctors so we paid and left. It was a excellent meal and nice wine, great ambiance and the bay views were devine. I don't like giving 5 star reviews and I would have liked to have an oyster entree, there were things that could have been better, but dining there was delightful.

Came here for breakfast and the views from the cafe sealed the deal. Service was good, our food came out at a reasonable time despite how busy it was. All was well. Until the food came out. On the surface everything looked good, but on closer inspection my eggs and toast ended up being eggs on half a toast due to the large (and admittedly naturally occurring) hole in my ciabatta! It just threw my whole ingredient to mouth ratio off. Anyway, next came my iced latte. It’s a hot day so I welcomed it greatly, but then, I take a mouthful of the most bitter tasting liquid I’ve ever encountered. I did a double take thinking someone had snuck cheap vodka in. But no, it was burnt coffee. I had so much hope for a good morning, but was left literally with a bitter taste in my mouth. Unfortunately I don’t live around these parts so I can’t go back to give this place another try.

Arrived for Breakfast at 9:30 for 4 people. Wait staff were slow to come and take orders but we dealt with that as they were reasonably busy. Friends arrive and we all order a coffee that takes 35min to arrive. Had that of been the case and we were told , we would have been completely understanding. But they kept us sitting and sitting and we had to enquire. Then when the drinks came out they wernt together. We then had to flag someone down and felt very rude doing so. But no one was taking our order. Food came out and it was delicious. But we had no cutlery. We then had to wave someone down and again, felt very rude doing so. Cutlery came and was dumped on the end of the table and the young man exclaimed ‘just going leave these here, I have to do something else’ . So while you are giving someone else service, we get out cutlery dumped. OK!! We let it slide ……… we then had to wave someone down an hour after we had finished to clear our plates and order another round of drinks. Waited what seemed like an eternity for them to come out and again, one was missing. We told them and she very rudely said ‘it’s coming!!’ Then went on to talk to her co-worker.No doubt they were taking about something professional and not chatting about the weekend. But when 3 people have their drink and one doesn’t …….. again! You sort that out right ? When I asked if there was a problem and why we were being ignored she very abruptly told us that they were very busy……. Yes, I can see that but if your staff can’t give service when it’s busy, then you have the wrong staff. She snapped at me and said she will comp my drinks. I don’t want stuff for free. We came out for a lovely lazy breakfast and to catch up with friends who have just arrived back from an over seas holiday. We planned on ordering plenty of drinks and even stay for a second round of food. But we had to fight just to get the basics. Food was delicious. Kitchen staff were outstanding! Their front of house staff completely let...

So upset and disappointed with our experience. We are locals and always bring interstate visitors and family here to enjoy a nice meal. I booked online for brunch, and received a confirmation. We arrived and stood outside for ages, waiting to be seated. Yes, we could see they were busy, so no problem. When someone finally arrived to seat us, we were told we were 30 minutes late and our booking had been erased. I explained that this was not the case, I had the booking on my phone to show them. We felt we were rudely spoken to, by 2 different staff members and it was embarrassing. A bare table was found, no settings or anything and we were gruffly told that the kitchen had stopped cooking breakfast about 45 minutes ago. We were told we needed to order right this minute. I then showed the lady, who I think was the Floor Manager, the reservation that was made. She then said that yes, they realised they had made an error, it was their mistake and not ours. She apologised a number of times. Our meals and coffees were nice, both could have been hotter. This was a special brunch that was totally ruined, not even an offer of a complimentary coffee to compensate for the debacle and error that they made. We won't ever come back, probably the worst experience we've had at any...
