No doubt about the scenic location, pub situated right opposite the beach has a wonderful advantage. Had a steak the other night and it was cooked to order with great BBQ taste and perfect grill marks. Pizza specials of $12 between 2:30 and 4:30 are popular and have the place packed. I do advise to book a table in advance if you plan to visit. Here's where things get messy, they also have a Cocktail Happy Hour between 3.:00pm and 5:00pm with an extensive selection of popular cocktails on offer for $12. Sounds Great right?? Cocktails are well crafted and taste awesome. So now you ask where's the problem? Ok so you make your way to the main bar and place your order and give the server your table number and once you pay they bring it out to you. Awesome service No? It All sounds pretty straight forward and simple. But here's the twist!!! upon ordering first round of cocktails at 3:15pm the table received them 25 mins later at exactly 3:40. Upon taking my first sip I hastely made my way to the bar to order the next round as this took ages to arrive, so precisely ordered at 3:43pm and returned to the table enjoying the ambience the view and of course the company I was keeping. Enjoying our first cocktail and awaiting the next to arrive, it did eventually arrive 35 mins after ordering. Now I don't mind waiting for a good cocktail being made to order. I do understand it doesn't pour out of a tap or bottle, but to wait for 25 and 35 mins respectfully, I did have my doubts as to IS This A SCAM, in the sense Yeah it's a 2 hour happy hour but you will only get the pleasure of 2 drinks in that time as we will serve you at the lowest speed I've ever seen at a bar. I mean ever. So I took it upon myself to go see what was really happening behind the scenes. I stood around the bar and simply observed their process. Clearly I was so correct. They are so inaeficient, No doubt what so ever it is inaeficient by design, where they have 5 bartenders taking orders for various drinks and a great deal of cocktail orders and they pass it and funnel it down to one poor staff member mixing and shaking cocktails. That's right one person to make many many cocktails that had their orders taken by 5 staff members who were trying to look busy when they weren't, yet one person left to fulfill all these cocktail orders that were piled up. I could excuse this if it was a once off, but sadly it was the same the previous week. This could be easily fixed by having one extra staff member mixing and shake cocktails rather than have them trip over each other as to who is going to take the order of the next customer and have their order bank up if it's for the cocktails. I wasn't the only table disgruntled by their designed ineficiency, as the tables around me were making the same remarks we were. Simply don't do happy hour if you don't want your patrons taking advantage of your promotion. LIFT your game Management of Bayswater Hotel because you have a location and opportunity to be getting 5stars every time but inexcusable to be waiting over half an hour for a drink. Tell me if...
Read moreReview + Updates + last post… We’ve been coming here for a few years now, the staff are great and you have a view to die for, BUT the worst thing you have done is made it DOG FRIENDLY! dog friendly without ANY rules! i’m fed up with yappy dogs! if i want to listen to dogs bark i’ll go to a dog park! I’ve seen owners feeding their dogs off plates! one owner picked up her dog and allowed it to eat leftover pizza off their plates and it flung pizza everywhere, we were at the next table and had to put up with it! I’ve seen dogs left unattended and patrons had to get up and restrain them and they were very large dogs. If you insist on allowing dogs then you HAVE TO put rules in place, try under the sign that says “Dog Friendly” oh! i’ve also seen people trip over dogs that are allowed to lay in walk ways on a very long leash! PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS! you have awesome staff that should be allowed to enforce rules that are ignored…..There are Government rules in place for owners to follow and they are being ignored, probably because you don’t have these rule up for owners to read!
Update; After going to the Bayswater today it was nice to see dog rules printed out and placed on tables in the dog friendly area and staff doing a great job
Update: Reserved tables outside is the dumbest thing that could possibly be done….i have seen so many people walk out because of it, these tables have sat empty for 3 hours because of these revere signs…the Boat club is starting to look pretty good!
Update 25 October 2024 As happy as i was to see rules printed out and put on the tables in the dog friendly area i am very frustrated to see people ignoring these rules 😡 Once again people at a table had 2 dogs which were annoyingly barking, then the 2 dogs decided to fight as well! And what do the owners do? while one took his dog for a short walk (which did nothing at all) the woman decided to reward her dog by feeding it food from her plate! Like i’ve already said…IF I WANT TO LISTEN TO BARKING DOGS I’LL GO TO A DAMN DOG PARK! It’s about time the Bayswater got a manager that was there for the customers and NOT just dog people! We go to the pub to relax and chill out….who the hell can relax and chill out with barking and fighting dogs????
After enjoying The Bayswater for the last few years we just can’t handle the barking and fighting dogs anymore…we arrived to 4 reserved tables that we left with no shows…at least 5 couples and families walked out…this pub has become very stressful and not enjoyable at all… my advice? Sack management and get someone that knows what they are doing…there are a few staff members Kev and...
Read moreWas just terrible today, Mothers Day breakfast, our daughter had come from Brisbane to spend the day with her Mum and the first thing we did, was go to your Mothers Day Buffet. We thought this would be a pretty special breakfast at close to $40 per head. The hot food was cold, ie bacon/sausages under cooked, clumps of cold steamed rubbish. The eggs were basically raw or overcooked and tasted horrible. The bread was dry and not even a toaster available to make it edible. We left most of that, on the plate and then tried some cold, rubberised pancakes. Even the fruit was not ripe, pastries and muffins tasted like Woolworths day old leftovers that had been left out in the sun. We thought we would at least get a decent coffee but instead got confronted with Nescafe Packets and an Empty Urn. We also noticed other people complaining at their tables and at Reception, as they were leaving. We spoke to reception desk on the way out as well and said it was horrendous and felt like the shrug of the shoulders was the best we would get and left. As locals, there is no way in hell will we be back again after this and no way in hell could we recommend it. Thanks for starting a special day of so miserably, hopefully we don't end up on the crapper for the rest of the day......
{The Bayswater Bar and Grill (owner) 3 weeks ago We’re truly sorry to hear about your experience on such a special day. Your feedback is invaluable and will be shared with the team to ensure improvements. We appreciate your honesty and hope to regain your trust in the future. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. }
Yeah, not really an adequate response to a total waste of $120 at your venue and then going elsewhere to eat. Absolute Shocker of a place, for any special occasion, and as for gaining our trust again,...
