this is just a great place, especially for an early morning walk. But the pier has a long history as one of the longest surviving piers in the country. It was built in 1917 and initially used to transport goods like sugar, timber, and coal from trains to cargo ships. It was part of a larger railway network connecting to the Port of Maryborough. It was nearly demolished in the 1980s but was saved by community effort and now is a heritage-listed site.

Even though it was quite a windy day, I thought it was spectacular and would have given it a 5 if I could take my dog with me for the almost 1km walk out to the point. (I do however understand that it could become an issue if a pooch made a poor timed poo! :)

A beautiful sunset on low tide and a walk along the pier, what a great way to get out of the house on a Sunday afternoon. Not too busy and lots of shells to see over the sides from the low tide. Great memories made with a view

It's hard to review a pier, after all, you walk to one end and walk back again. This is a very very long pier and seems very popular. There were heaps of people fishing from it. The water is quite clear and was very shallow when we were there. There are no chairs along the way if you wanted to sit for a,bit, which is a shame. At the beginning of the pier are a few gift shops and cafes, including an ice cream shop selling Maleny Dairies ice cream. I didn't even know Maleny Dairies did ice cream! Another unusual store is the one that specialises in hats. We were there on a Saturday and there were some markets on which were quite good. There is a path from the pier that runs all the way along the coast for ages. There are several cafes, parks and playgrounds along the walk. All in all, it's a pleasant way to spend an...

The pier is a great place. Being a fisherman it is the main reason I visit Hervey Bay. It is fantastic to be able just relax and the jetty has a constant stream of people just exercising or out for a wander all hours of the night and day. Hard work to catch a feed when the fish aren't running and you need to catch live bait to really do any good. You'll need a jig as there is no cast netting around the pier. Good amount of rod holders and a water supply to wash your hands is handy. Only big downfall is there are no toilets along the pier. 800m is a long way when you need to go in a hurry. The lights did not work at night either which was a disappointment. I am sure the council could rectify both issues for the benefit of tourism and the...

Everyone has to walk the pier at least one. It's part of the history of Hervey Bay. But remember, it's a long walk and it can get very hot, so take water and a hat, and takes some breaks along the way. Great photo opportunity. And when you get back you can take a break at one of the cafes or ice cream shop. The markets are held twice a month and have some very good craft stalls and fresh fruit and veges. A great way to spend a couple of hours in a nice location. Great walk along the pier. Must do it on sunset to experience the full beauty of the place. Plenty of people fishing. Nice to see so many families and couples enjoying this experience. Make sure the kids use bathroom before you...
