Thank you so much to the SDSR team. We had an Awesome adventure today Warwick to Wallangarra. Thank you to Lorraine for the support with my request. A huge Thank You to our Chaperone Betty and The Team for ensuring our experience was a fun and memorable time and sharing their experiences. You all are amazing and inspirational with your dedication to everyone who travels with you. Thank you also to the Beautiful Volunteers who greeted us at the Stations with offerings of refreshments and stories of their experiences. We are blessed to have Travelled with SDSR. The Downs Explorer conduct steam railway journeys once or twice a month. I really enjoyed my trip from Warwick to Wallangarra and return - a ten hour journey. The sight and sound of the steam engine was the background to friendly enthusiastic conversation as I rode the historic carriages though the countryside. I saw kangaroos and livestock as the train clickity clacked past small towns and bushland, over bridges and through tunnels. There were many people along the way waving at us in the train. A memorable experience.

What a great day, all the volunteers were really helpful and courteous. A bit of a step up (and down) from the platforms at Warwick, Stanthorpe and Wallangarra and if you have trouble climbing stairs this may present a problem. The meal at Wallangarra was very nice. Remember to take some cash with you as EFTPOS is not available everywhere. So great to see this 1950's steam train (that was built at Walker's in Maryborough, Queensland) so beautifully cared for and 100% functional. Great job guys.

We booked a steam train trip from Warwick to Stanthorpe with a wine tour and a 2-course lunch. Absolutely perfect 🥰 so perfect we're going to be doing it again, hopefully regularly. Honestly, you need to do this once to experience it. Obviously a grown family experience due to the fact there's wine tasting involved but if you have underage family members, book the same trip but do the Girraween National Park tour instead. 😉 The volunteers that run these tours are amazing and I can't thank them enough for giving up their time to make our time so special. You're...
