Review of Alpentherme Bad Hofgastein
I recently visited Alpentherme Bad Hofgastein, and unfortunately, the experience did not meet my expectations, especially considering the price. Here are some of my impressions:
Value for Money First of all, I found Alpentherme to be too expensive for what it offers. The entrance fee was significantly higher than what I would expect for similar facilities, it felt like I was overpaying.
Sauna World One of the biggest issues I had was with the "Sauna World." Having to be naked in this area together with strangers of both genders felt very uncomfortable. I would have preferred if there were options for separate areas for men and women, or at least the possibility to wear swimwear. For me, and probably for many others, this policy can be a major deterrent.
Facilities The facilities themselves are modern and well-maintained. The pools and thermal baths were clean and offered a relaxing experience. However, given the price, it felt like visiting a regular swimming pool rather than an exclusive spa facility. It lacked the special touch that would justify the high entrance fee.
Summary Overall, my experience at Alpentherme Bad Hofgastein was less than positive. The high price and the uncomfortable experience in Sauna World made the visit feel not worth the cost. The facility felt like a regular swimming pool but at a premium price. If you are comfortable with their nudity policy and ready to pay a higher price, it might be worth a visit. For me, however, it was not the relaxing and enjoyable experience I...
Read moreVisited the "Sauna world" (this is one of the five worlds) within the Alpentherme but was rather disappointed. This is the only area where bathing clothes are not allows yet as it's accessible to everyone you regularly see clothed guest walking around and making use of the facilities. You get the feeling they just want to have a look around which is not very relaxed, especially when they carry their cell phone in their hand with them. Usually there is staff to monitor this, in the 4 hours we were there I saw no staff to inform. If your looking to relax in baths the sauna world does not have them.Lunch in the sauna bar was also disappointing. Be sure to skip the hot cheese toast, this grilled ham and cheese sandwich comes straight from the packing and was still cold on the inside when served. One aspect of the sauna which can enhance the experience is the rituals, however at the specified time of the rituals staff simply place a bucket of water inside the sauna and go leaving it up to the guests to carry out the rest. Perhaps this is common here but I am used to a staff member performing this task. All in all not the best experience while the actual sauna's themselves...
Read moreIt's the third time I come to Bad Hofgastein for summer holidays. In 2020 and 2021, I found that Alpentherme was a pleasant place to be in, peaceful, quiet like any thermal bath should be. Old people came to soothe their pains, families were there too with young children, having appropriape behaviour : the youngest ones were well-attended by their parents. I would like to tell you that I am so disappointed this year that I intend to never come back again in Bad Hofgastein's thermal baths. Tonight, teenagers were diving, shouting and running everywhere. Yesterday, two teenage girls were making so much fuss in the "sportbecken" that some swimmers coudn't practice and prefered to stand aside... And so on and so forth. At the baths' entrance, silence is required on a board but nothing is done by the staff to prevent trouble makers from doing anything they want. To finish with, I must say that I am also fed up to see people bathing in their clothes and not in a proper swimming suit. Is Alpentherme a local swimming pool or is it truly thermal baths ? It seems to me that the place is badly deteriorating. You shoud really do something,...
