Great experience with instructors spoiled by poor customer service. I am an advanced skier and took private lessons from Ischgl’s ski instructors on several occasions. Instructors are very professional, polite and provide a wealth of advice. However, my experience in 2019 has been marred by non-existent customer service. I booked an off-piste private lesson for a whole day a week in advance hoping for improvement in weather but unfortunately forecast continued to show continued snowfalls and strong wind. Avalanche warnings were even mentioned by international media let alone by local newspapers. Day in advance, I came into the office asking for recommendations on whether it makes sense to go ahead with the lesson. A completely disinterested gentleman who clearly didn’t care less told me that “it is up to me” and that “snow is good for off piste”. Fair enough, although the difference was either to cancel early and pay 35% of the price or a ruined day and loss of all money. I decided to bite the bullet and of course the weather was terrible on the day again with almost all lifts closed. The instructor, called Thomas, decided to go ahead with the lesson and to be fair to him, he did an amazing lesson in such adverse conditions. Unfortunately despite Thomas’s efforts, the wind continued to get stronger, and soon all lifts were closed, forcing us to stop early (skiing for 3 hours instead of 4.5, which amounts to about 70 EUR difference). I contacted the office and politely asked if they would be kind enough to return the difference given that I wasn’t able to ski for the whole day and was leaving on the next. A completely indifferent woman didn’t show even an ounce of flexibility or compassion, and referred me to dry small print stating that it wasn’t ski school’s fault “Silvrettabergbahnen decided to close their lifts”. Given the unusual circumstances, the fact that snowstorms were raging for 2 weeks, I was expecting a bit more active customer-oriented approach but alas, clearly the ski school staff were more interested in keeping the money and blaming the unpredictability of...
Read moreI’ve been skiing with Martin Jehle in Ischgl since I was around 12 or 13, and now I’m 23 — so it’s safe to say we’ve been on this journey together for over a decade and it has been an unforgettable one! What started as just simple ski lessons quickly turned into a real friendship, and skiing with Martin has become one of the most amazing parts of my life! Martin isn’t just an amazing ski instructor — he’s very patient, super skilled, and knows exactly how to challenge you without making you feel pressured or even afraid that something bad can happen to you. If you are with Martin even on black slopes, trust me when I say you are safe, you can feel like you can do anything if you have him around you! He helped shape me into the skier I am today, and I honestly wouldn’t be where I am without him. But more than that, he’s just a genuinely great person. Kind, funny, always supportive — the kind of person you look forward to seeing every season of ski. Our connection has grown so naturally over the years, and skiing with him now feels more like skiing with family. If you ever get the chance to ski with Martin, take it! Whether you're new to the slopes or have years of experience, he’ll make it unforgettable. I have to thank Ischgl School for bringing Martin in my life🙏 The Ischgl School is a very professional school where you can learn to ski with only professional& very special instructors,...
Read moreWe had a very disappointing experience with a ski instructor who clearly was not qualified for teaching small children. We booked a 121 for the first day and indicated that our child is a beginner. On his first day and first hour he broke his shin. This is clearly something you would not expect in a 121 lesson at the children area. More alarmingly the instructor did not know how it happened as he said he was in front and my son was 'skiing' behind. How would you leave a beginner on his first day and first hour out of sight asking to follow him? Last when my son fell he did not assist him. My husband by chance was skiing down and hurried along when he saw him on the ground. When asking what happened he explained he has pain and could not move. It was then my husband and not the ski instructor who provided first aid. I came shortly after and being German native asked for some assistance from the school. Nobody really seemed to believe he would have broken anything, but they swiftly called the doctor as I asked them. The police investigate the terrain and confirmed that no bumps etc were present. While falls happen, this was clearly avoidable and negligence. This ski instructor should not be put to work with children and the only reason I did not pursue this further with him is that we don't live in Austria. My son is now 9 weeks in cast and no...
