Bauernmuseum Mondseeland — Attraction in Tiefgraben

THE PILE MUSEUM On more than 400 m² of exhibition space the history of the pile-dwelling culture of the Mondseeland is shown.

Extensive finds and research results of the widespread "Mondsee Culture", a characteristic of the Neolithic Age, which gave names to important sites on Mondsee, are waiting for the visitors.

Focal points: Pile fields of the Mondsee and Attersee, history of pile finding research, organic finds (flora and fauna), ceramics and stone tools, pictorial panels.

THE MONASTERY MUSEUM In the rooms of the former Monastery Mondsee, the history and culture of the monastery and its surroundings, archeology and architectural history, sacral art, book illumination and folk culture are exhibited on more than 1000 m² of exhibition space. Particularly worth seeing are the former Benedict Chapel (funerary room of the monks) with frescoes from the end of the 13th century, the Betchor and the former Gothic monastery library.

Sehr enttäuschend! Für 7 € wird einem nicht viel geboten. Auch der Euro Ermäßigung mit der Touricard macht es nicht besser. Ein paar alte Bauernhäuser, die kaum zugänglich sind, mit alten Geräten die wahllos irgendwo rumstehen und weiter vergammeln. Beschilderung der Gebäude kaum lesbar. Im Inneren nur sperrliche Infos was zu sehen ist. Erinnert eher an ein Lager für altes Zeug. Der kleine Teich auf der Karte ist zugewachsen und das Feld ist auch nicht erkennbar.
