DON’T BOTHER getting ice cream from here! Not only is the ice cream sub par, the service is terrible! We just went here on the recommendation of our tour guide, who claimed that the ice cream was the best in Austria. We love ice cream, so we thought, “We have to try it!” Big mistake. First off, they won’t let you sample any of the flavors. So we asked for the girl to tell us what they were and she couldn’t translate into English very well. So we picked flavors that seemed like ones we recognized, but ended up unhappy because they didn’t taste like what they looked like. This is a problem that could be easily avoided, BUT THEY DON’T ALLOW YOU TO SAMPLE. Second, we were asked if we wanted a cone or a cup. We said cone and were given a standard cone. It was only after we got our ice cream and started to walk inside that we saw the option for a waffle cone or chocolate dipped regular cone. It would have been a lot easier to eat the ice cream in a waffle cone, but again, we weren’t given that option. The kicker though, the thing I REALLY take issue with, was how we were treated once we walked inside. My husband wanted to grab a cup of coffee and sit down to enjoy our ice cream, so we walked inside. We headed to the back to grab a table, and as soon as we got back there an older woman (I’m assuming the owner? Or maybe a really snobby patron?) spoke up and said, “You’re NOT ALLOWED in here with ice cream! You must get out. Ice cream cones are take away only!” Her tone was extremely rude, condescending, and offensive. I guess these people don’t get or don’t care to get the concept of being nice to patrons so that they spend more money. TL;DR - The ice cream isn’t as special as people make it out to be and the people who run this place are rude. Don’t give them your money!

Whenever I come to Mondsee I HAVE to come to this ice cream shop! It was recommended to me a year or so ago and oh boy the queues are worth it to get some of this absolutely delicious ice cream! They have about 20 different freshly made ice cream and sorbet flavours all of which taste absolutely mindblowingly amazing. I brought my family here recently and my step dad (who religiously says you cannot beat Cornish ice cream) agrees this is the best he has ever had! The service is fabulous, the staff all speak perfect English and are super helpful and friendly. The prices are so good for how great the ice cream tastes! The last time I went the scoops were €1.60 each!!! I cannot recommend this place enough!!

Fantastic, home-made ice cream for incredible prices! I've been coming here for 15 years now I guess and have never been let down. Just came again, six generous scoops for 4 people for less than €10. Flavours are super Austrian! Zwetschge (Special type of plum) is a must, such a fresh, fruity flavour. Also always had good Topfen (a type of fresh cheese like quark). Can also recommend pistachio, hazelnut, Amarena cherry, yoghurt. (Fun fact, the owner's name and therefore the shop's name Übleis means "nauseous ice cream")

Zusammenfassend: Unfreundlicher Chef, mangelnde Kundenkommunikation, unangemessene Reaktion, unhöfliche Behandlung, fehlende Kundenorientierung.

[ENG] Unfortunately, we experienced an extremely unfriendly owner who showed no sense of customer communication or general interpersonal skills. When I politely requested to have the CHOCOLATE sundae I ordered served without pistachio ice cream, we were yelled at and called ungrateful customers. He aggressively explained to us that he had been doing it this way for years and that he puts in the flavors that "come to hand."

When paying, we kindly asked if it was possible to get a small discount on the rather expensive sundae, as it did not meet our expectations. In response, we were threatened with the police if we did not pay the full amount.

Our constructive criticism was apparently taken as a personal insult rather than helpful feedback for future customers who might also order a chocolate sundae – preferably without seemingly random flavors added.

In summary: Unfriendly owner, poor customer communication, inappropriate reaction, rude treatment, lack of customer...
