There was no welcome when we arrived. A lack of feastive atmosphere. No nice lounge to sit in with comfy chairs. Was never offered a coffee after dinner there was nowhere nice to sit and have an after dinner drink. Ther was restrictions as to when the bar was open and a lack of staff available. It took over 30 minutes to get a g&t on arrival. No facilities in the room to make a hot drink. No room service,a although I was told there was prior to booking. All of the literature, flyers and information around the hotel was in German. Got the impression they did not want us Brits there. The dining room chairs were hard and uncomfortable. The food was nothing special. Only one waitor serving our party of 35 ,so took ages to get our meal.also very limited menu. No choice of starter or dessert. Meat or fish that was it. Skeleton staff over Christmas, all quite misserable. No wine list on table. House wine cheap and acidic. Spa nice ,albeit the pool was only really big enough for two people to swim at the same time. There was another bar on the opposite side of the hotel, but no one told us about this. It had more personality than the lifeless bar that we were introduced to, and the prices were a third cheaper. Found this on last evening. Tour guide failed to inform us of this. I travelled with the travel company Travelsphere and felt that there was a lot of misrepresentation. The rooms were basic, again no comfortable arm chair. Just a bench like sofa. I could hear the conversation in the next room, and people walking around in the room above me. It was described as a four star hotel, but needs a lot of money spent on it to achieve a four star standard. The dining room was described as elegant but looked more like a beer Keller. I travelled with a company know as Travelsphere. Many of us felt that they had lured us there with false information. Describeing the hotel as a castle. It might have been used a a castle once but most certainly is NOT. I would not travel with Travelsphere. again. Please don't waste your money unless you want to be extremely...

We had the most amazing stay for our wedding here. The room was fabulous, the bed was super comfy, I’m still thinking about the pillows alone, the showers were spotlessly clean and the pressure and temperature were fantastic. The rooms were huge and definitely larger compared to my American expectations. (Not just ours but the guests of our wedding as well) The one thing I wasn’t prepared for was no A/C but luckily we were there in late May and the open windows made all the difference. Sabine and Felix and the entire serving staff were beyond amazing, attentive, efficient. The food was fantastic in the Culinario and every morning we left the breakfast overstuffed and waddling. The food at their newly renovated Benediktus restaurant was delicious. We ended up eating their two nights in a row and I ordered their dumplings and lemon curd both times. Their veal was Devine. My husband and I are detouring back from Our honeymoon just to eat there one more time before we head back to the US. I fell in love with Schlosshotel Mondsee when I first saw it in 2018, we planned our wedding in April 2020 which obviously got cancelled due to COVID. Sabine and her staff have been working with my fiancée (now husband) for two and half years and i truly appreciate her above and beyond efforts every step of the way in replanning our special day. Felix and his team were the surprise bonus. We will...

3 bad moments in 2 nights:

Room: The room we got was a lower quality one compared to the one offered both in Booking and the website. I don-t understand why when someone book a room based on the photos, then you get something else. The “double” bed was 2 individual beds with single mattresses together, where we had to put a towel between each other to not hurt ourselves with some wood in between. Seems in Austria the people sleeps separated, I don-t know... (sarcastic).

Shower: I really liked the bathroom of the photos when I booked. Then we got a regular bathroom.

Wellness area: small, and with children playing around. I don’t know if this should be announced so one can decide better.

We had dinner once in the hotel restaurant and idk, it was rotten or something as my wife Started to feel not to well very quickly. We ended both in the toilet after it....

We tried to explain at the beginning the issue with the bed at the reception with our best faces, but the lady from it, didn’t like at all the claim based on her face reaction, where they tried to offer us the same type of room. XD

The WiFi was very good !! ^.^

We travel with my wife quite often through Austria, and this is the first time that in general the service is not good according to the price, not to mention You have to pay the parking..

Won’t...

Fine hotel in an old abbey… I was there for a week. The two restaurants were great and I ate their 3x … schnitzel, pasta and a burger on three different occasions plus breakfast every day which was excellent and well worth it. The rooms were large, included a mini bar fridge, cleaned every day, bed was comfortable and mine had a second floor with a desk. I was there for work so it came in handy. Only issue was trying to work some of the heating racks for clothes in the bathroom… no instructions :(. Service was efficient and friendly… English no problem as my German is limited. A beautiful part of Austria if you get a chance to see it… lakes and rolling hills, great food, beautiful architecture and friendly people. What more could you ask for. All in all a great place in a historic building made for a very pleasant and memorable stay.

Beautiful hotel with rich history and stunning architecture. The spa is fantastic—small but well-designed, efficient, and very relaxing. The food was good quality and lived up to expectations. However, breakfast could use some quality control. I noticed mold on the grapes and the Parmesan cheese, and some dishes from the dinner buffet seemed to be reused in the morning, like the ham and melon, which didn’t look fresh. The restaurant staff were friendly despite being seemingly a bit stressed. Loved the attention to detail, much love towards Mondsee and its guests - the receptionist was exceptionally friendly, and the check-in/out process was smooth. Overall, it was an unforgettable stay. Thank you!!

Vielen Dank!
