Soaring Views and Culinary Delights at the Danube Tower Vienna's Danube Tower offers a captivating experience that blends breathtaking panoramic vistas with delicious food options. Here's a closer look: Unparalleled Views: As the tallest structure in Austria, the Danube Tower boasts unbeatable 360-degree views of Vienna. You can spot iconic landmarks like St. Stephen's Cathedral and the Vienna Ferris Wheel, all while marveling at the Danube River snaking through the city. There's even an open-air viewing platform for a truly immersive experience. Culinary Options: The Danube Tower caters to various appetites. Enjoy fine dining at the revolving restaurant, where you can savor delectable dishes while the city unfolds beneath you. Alternatively, grab a coffee and cake at the cafe, offering a more casual atmosphere to take in the sights. A Touch of History: Built in 1964, the Danube Tower is steeped in history. It's a great way to learn about Vienna's architectural evolution and appreciate the city's modern skyline. Things to Consider: Even with a restaurant booking you still have to pay for the tower entry unlike any other tower restaurants we have been to. While the views are undeniably impressive, keep in mind that the Danube Tower can get crowded, especially during peak season. Purchasing tickets online beforehand can help you avoid long queues. Additionally, the walk from the nearest underground station can be a bit long, so factor that into your travel time. Overall, the Danube Tower is a must-visit for anyone seeking a unique perspective on Vienna. The stunning views, delicious food options, and historical significance make it a worthwhile addition to your itinerary.

This is so much better compared to the giant wheel. This restaurant is 170 meters high and the view is stunning, specially in eveningtimes. You just have to make a reservation here as it is full booked most of the time. 21:00 is for me the best time as it is less crowded and people are quietly enjoying the view and food. On arrival i found out that you have to pay to get into the tower itself, in which the restaurant is located. You will be welcomed by a liftboy who will get you to the floor you need. The elevator goes seriously fast (6.2m/s) so be prepared to get your ears popped like in a airplane. On arrival at the restaurant you will be received by a hostess whom will confirm your reservation and guide you to your table. They give you a menu and some superdelicious white and brown bread with salmonspread and salted butter. The overview over Vienna is nothing less then stunning. Its the highest point in Vienna and almost at the center of the city. On the ceiling there are signs telling which building is where. As the tower turns you can see them all. Going to the toilet is also very pleasant. just wait till it comes by, no need to walk far. Waiter is really friendly and speaks 4 languages. You get a drink and take some time to see the menu and surroundings. Then order food. They have complete menu 3 stages for 40€ or pick one of the special Vienna style dishes. You get a 2hrs window to sit and enjoy. The food itself is top-quality and fresh. This was well worth the money. For 2 people bring at least 125€ to enjoy the full package with one drink. Cost me 28€ to get in and 92€ for the food.

The service is slow...at the arrival we waited at the entrance for a while and we tried to look for someone to show us our table. (You have to make pre reservations before arrival...and if you can't show up they will charge you for 100€ what is already is disappointing...) so the waitresses was talking down on us...anyway we tried to enjoy our time with my daughter. First we got fresh bread and butter (not free!) I ordered a vegetable soup with pancake slices what is traditional soup in Austria...there was no vegetable in it at all. My daughter ordered salmon (there is only one type of salmon in the menu...no chicken just beef) she had to wait for that salmon for more than 40 minutes and it looked raw...they served it with RAW pumpkin and with some kind of cheese balks- doesn't worth the money at all. They do not have a real vegetarian option for second course, so my choice was limited for one option it was some deep fried egg 🤢 with spinach...no taste at all...I didn't even tried the egg it looked disgusting. Than we ordered some sweet that one was ok...but definitely not worth that much what they asked for it... Overall besides the food and the service what both was awful the view was beautiful. Ohh before I forget and we paid more than one hundred Euro for all of the food what we didn't even eat it...to be honest I do not recommend it at all.

We had a very nice brunch in the Donauturm Coffee Shop. Weather wasn't necessarily the one which you'd use to spend a few hours on a tower high above the city. However, we still enjoyed the nice view on Vienna on a windy and snowy day - so it was a little bit shaky but still a lot of fun. Brunch is something we enjoyed very much, less in the first half starting at 11 o'clock when the place was fairly crowded. However it became far better from 12:30 onward when quite a number of people left the coffee shop and it became quite. Staff was always friendly, however they had difficulties with the number of people who obviously had the impression that everything needs to be eaten in the first half an hour - towards the end at about 2 p.m. they had more time, were quite relaxed and even spent some time talking to us about off topic items. Meals where reasonable without necessarily being over the top - however this is not what you'd expect from a brunch on a tower coffee shop which continuously rotates - so you can see all over the city within about half an hour. Nevertheless it was better than originally expected, more than sufficient and if people let the staff to the place where the food was served they always replaced any empty plates quickly - so all fine and as it should be.

The Danube Tower is very great! There is a lot of parking spaces for a large number of guests, but it is not free; the first hour is 3.5€ and another 2.5€ for every additional our you leave your car there. You have no other option anyway. The entrance is around 15€ for the coffee house, terrace, and observation point. Afterward, you go into the elevator that goes 6.2m/s ... pretty fast, and arrive to the terrace (you can smoke there) that is like a prison, a level up you have the observation point, and then the coffee house. Here, you can eat several things and drink (I chose tea 🙂) while the entire floor and windows are rotating to show you the 360° view of Vienna. Every direction is pointed using some indicators that tells you what landmarks are in that direction. These signs are on the ceiling that is stationary. Once you are done, you can pay either cash or via credit card, go another round to the terrace and then down with the elevator. My ears popped both when ascending and descending. At ground level you have a large gift shop where you can find a big variety of souvenirs. I liked it, the view is fantastic, and the personnel knows English 🙂 I would go again !

The Donauturm (English: Danube Tower) is a tower in Vienna, the tallest structure in Austria at 252 metres (827 ft), and among the 75 tallest towers in the world. Opening in April 1964, the tower is located near the north bank of the Danube River. Groundbreaking took place on 12 October 1962. After approximately 18 months of construction, under the supervision of Eberhard Födisch, the tower was officially opened on 16 April 1964 by Federal President Adolf Schärf. Since then, it has become a part of the Viennese skyline and has become a popular lookout point and a tourist attraction. Two high-speed elevators transport passengers to the tower's viewing platform at 150 metres (490 ft). Each lift, carrying up to 14 passengers, takes only 35 seconds to reach the observation platform. In strong winds, the elevators travel at only half speed because of the possible fluctuation of the tower: the movement of the elevator cable could be dangerous. By walking about 779 steps (775, according to architects Lintl), the platform can also be reached on foot. The stairs are, however, usually only accessible during the annual Donauturm run, or in an emergency.
