First and foremost it is a rotating Café! Our main goal was to sit there and enjoy the rotating experience with the beautiful Danube and Wien (Vienna) view. Me and my partner surely got that!!!! The café is rotating slowly enough not to be scary and fast enough not to be boring. It was so cool to see the view change as we had our Viennese sausages, strudels and beers.
In all honesty we didn't expect anything from the food or service. We didn't go there for that. We didn't care that much about it.
Mr. Ali was our main waiter. He was kind, thoughtful, tongue-in-cheek funny, respectful and quick. He helped us choose the food and drinks. Me and my partner were looking for the Viennese experience in our few days in Wien (Vienna). And we got that even in this Tower, thanks to him. The sausage with kren (horse radish) and mustard was good. The apfelstrudel (apple strudel) was good. The Turm beer was good. Food and service were good.
I will end the same way I started. Our goal was to have a snack/drink with a view. We had it. The food and service should be good enough not to spoil that experience. They were more than good enough! We even left a tip. And we left it on the POS device. (Another good thing about the Turm Café is that card payment was available. In Wien (Vienna) there were some restaurants and Cafés we really wanted to visit but we didn't want to withdraw money from the ATM, so we didn't visit them. So, this is another plus, we could pay...
Read moreThey couldn't get us out of there fast enough.
They started taking our order before we even sat down and looked at the menu. The waiter insisted that he could tell us what was on the menu faster than if we read it.
They don't have much, just drinks and desserts. I quickly ordered a coffee to make him go away so I could read the menu.
We decided on a dessert and then couldn't get the attention of the waiter to order anything. When he finally got there after flagging him down a few times he tried to bring us the bill. We ordered more drinks and food and he told us that a large party was coming in and we would have to move. No problem, we didn't have a great seat and were happy to move.
Then he brought us the order and said that we had 15 minutes left or we had to move. I said that was fine and happy to move, so he left the food and gave us 15 minutes.
Happy to be out of there in 15.
When we did eventually get the bill, for being in a hurry it was again hard to get his attention, we paid by card and the waiter conveniently added €2 to the bill as a tip, which is good for him because I wasn't adding one voluntarily.
They started cleaning the table while I was still getting up and made it difficult to leave. Everything was a contradiction, either they want us gone or we couldn't get...
Read moreWe recently dined at Turm Cafe, Vienna, and unfortunately, our experience was far from pleasant. From the moment we arrived, the waiter who served us displayed ill-mannered and unprofessional behavior. When we inquired if they served beer, his response was sarcastic and dismissive, saying, "What is this restaurant for?" This set an uncomfortable tone right from the beginning.
When we asked for the menu, he again responded rudely, implying we didn't need one because we wanted beer. This lack of basic courtesy and respect was disappointing and uncalled for. Throughout our meal, the waiter's attitude remained dismissive and unprofessional.
To top it off, he informed us that his shift was ending and requested we settle the bill immediately. When we asked for the bill, we noticed that a tip had been added without our knowledge or consent. This is an unethical and unfair practice, especially considering the poor service we received. We were shocked by the audacity and lack of transparency.
Overall, the experience was marred by the waiter's unethical behavior and lack of professionalism. We left feeling dissatisfied and disrespected. We hope the restaurant management takes note of such incidents and works towards improving customer...
