Dialogue in the Dark is a social franchise product of Dialogue Social Enterprise GmbH (DSE), alongside Dialogue in Silence and Dialogue with Time, and was originally conceived by Andreas Heinecke. With the aim of bringing sighted people closer to the everyday lives of people with blindness and enabling an eye-to-eye encounter, the exhibition has been shown in over 30 countries and more than 130 cities since its inception in 1988 and has already reached more than 9 million visitors. Blind people guide groups of visitors through the completely darkened exhibition. Read moreAn extraordinary experience that I really recommend! Incredible how much we rely on our eyes on a daily basis. This experience shows you what it "feels" like to be blind. It's so dark inside that you don't see anything. It doesn't matter if your eyes are open or not. You go inside this tunnel at first and follow the walls. At the beginning you get a blind stick from the staff to "feel" your way forward. There's guides that tell you to follow them (most of the guides are blind themselves). There are different kinds of terrain as you walk through. At the end there is a "bar in the dark" where you can drink something and talk to the barkeeper or your friends, in the dark. It's a totally new experience to talk without seeing anyone or anything. You can just relax and be yourself without being anxious about your looks and so on.
If you got the time definitely give it a go. It's really worth it! I loved every...
Read moreThe experience was superb for us. We went on weekday afternoon so there was no wait and we got a private tour for just us two. We truly enjoyed the special effects inside, especially the boat. We genuinely can feel the love and care the staffs had put into this place. Our guide was a nice attentive lady and speak perfect English. The ticket price was reasonable (19 Euro/person). The location was reachable from the city center(30min)- at the end of the U-bahn line. This interactive tour was suitable for everyone. If you are in the city of Vienna, I definitely recommend you to try this at least once. PS. We did email them for an appointment in English beforehand. We suggest you...
