Die SCHEMERLBRÜCKE, wurde nach Joseph Maria Schemerl von Lrythenbach benannt (1752 bis 1844, Architekt und Wasserbauingenieur) Sie wurde 1894-1899 nach dem Entwurf von Otto Wagner erbaut. Die Bronzelöwen schuf Rudolf Weyr. Sie wurden von der in der Nähe befindlichen Autofabrik "Gräf & Stift" als Logo übernommen.
