We were visiting the Plachutta Nussdorf on 1st of October. This time it was really disappointing !!

The food was good as always, but the atmosphere was terrible. Nobody was really serving us, we asked for a extra plate for our daughter, some extra bread and a big bottle of water. None of our wishes was fulfilled by anybody and it took around 25min to order our dinner.

Asking why the service is so bad we got the answer that this is common on a Saturday evening - and it is so crowded. COME ON GENTS: there was 6 people for service delivery - and no one had time? The Plachutta Nussdorf is not as big as the Stephansdom and it was NOT crowded (half the desks was not taken).

So, it will be a very long time till I will try again .... goodbye Plachutta

It looks

Arriving through the door nobody welcomed us or showed a place to sit down. Asking the service personal after the place for the reservation she went away without any comment (also no hello was said!!).

She came back after some time and asked us to follow her to the table. We sit down and she went away. In the meantime I discovered a dirty fork and also a dirty tablecloth with some splits of spinach.

After some minutes a new service guy asked us what we want to...

This is the first time I've eaten at this location. I usually go to the location beside the Opera house.

Same great food. Limited menu but excellent. 3 of us had the tafelspitz speciality with the apple horseradish which is truly wonderful. This consists of a copper pot with a light flavour filled beef broth with root vegetables and your choice of beef cut. Truly excellent. They deserve being famous for this!

1 of us had lamb chops and mash potato. What can I say? Probably the best lamb chops I've tried in 10 years! Perfectly cooked and presented.

1 if us had the zweibel rost braten. Good but not the best I've had.

There was some confusion with delivery of food and drinks which I must say is unusual. Service was not as good as I have experienced or expected. Pleasant staff but timings off. 3 dishes delivered without side dishes arrived 10 minutes later, lamb chops 15 mins later and lastly the zweibel rost braten 20 mins later. Never received the parsley potatoes but ate our rosti!

Interesting that they allow dogs into the restaurant and they are all very well behaved! Pity children are not as well trained!

However despite all that I'd still highly recommend trying them. The food...

Plachutta's restaurants are seriously fantastic. They offer the best of Viennese cuisine and the quality of the food remains consistent. There is a reason they are always fully booked, but the food makes it worth it!

Unfortunately, the quality food tends to have a caveat, and with this restaurant, it means the waiters are not super friendly and they prices are quite high. In addition, they will charge every addition to your bill. This includes the sauces or potato sides you select (which are recommended on the menu and asked for you to choose one by the waiter, but never disclosed on the menu that they cost extra in addition to the dish).

In addition, be aware they charge you for "couvert" per person!! This means a table cover, which is essentially the cutlery and tableware that you use. This is not something they inform you beforehand, and it adds up if you are dining with multiple people.

We also were not aware of the significance of the tipping culture in Vienna. We assumed that the staff received good wages, this doesn't seem to be the case as the waiter who serves was intensely and very vocally offended about the fact we didn't give a tip. A lesson learned for next...

My favourite restaurant in Vienna. We go there often and in fact celebrated our signing day there with family. Not a cheap restaurant rather it is a restaurant with Class! Service is superb. Restaurant is clean and beautiful. Has indoor and outdoor. Even though it is not a big restaurant, it has quite some tables and don't make you feel crowded. Their Tafel Spitz is of course the best. I always order beef tongue as it's my favourite and they prepare it excellent. Tafel spitz soup is very good too. We love the potato side dish that comes with it. It's even better with burnt crusts. In summer from Grill, I had Tiger Shrimps . They were quite tasty in white sauce. Beef tartar was marvelous. My man had a steak and it was great. In winter my favourite Lobster soup is on the menu. I'd recommend you to try it.
