Golden hour hits different at Origin Hotel Kansas City 🌅✨ From the breathtaking sunset views to the top-tier service, my stay in the 2-queen bedroom was nothing short of amazing! 🛏️💫 Plus, it’s the FIRST hotel on the Kansas City riverfront—talk about a prime location! 👏🏽 If you’re visiting KC or just need a staycation, this is your sign to book a stay! P.S. Part 2 with Showpony Restaurant experience is coming soon. Just know the food is delicious which made my stay even better! 10/10 #OriginHotelKC #StayOrigin #KansasCityViews #fyp #staycation #travel

I’ve spent a lot of time enjoying urban parks and especially riverfront parks. The Chicago Riverwalk, San Antonio Riverwalk, and Memphis Bluffs have been some of my favorites – so I used those as my benchmark when I visited Kansas City’s riverfront. I was disappointed by Berkley Riverfront and the Riverfront Heritage Trail. The limited number of convenient access points is frustrating. Once you’re actually in the park, there are not enough places to sit, and not enough trees to provide shade while you’re sitting. I came into the park via the Riverfront Heritage Trail from 2nd & Main Streets, and it took me a while (20+ minutes?) to walk to a point where I could sit and actually enjoy the park/views. Also frustrating is that public transit access to the riverfront is poorly designed: as I was leaving Berkley Riverfront, I decided to take KCTA’s 77 bus (the only route passing near the park) back to downtown. The bus stop (near to the Union Berkley apartment building) is just a sign on the grass next to the street – no sidewalk, no bus shelter, and clearly an afterthought. If they could build a shelter for the bikeshares/scooters, you think they could’ve done the same for transit riders as well! Lastly, I was personally unimpressed by the actual views from the park. Looking north the Missouri River was murky, and looking south the views of the downtown skyline weren’t great. If you’re interested in photographing these, I wouldn’t recommend this spot. All in all, Kansas City is full of beautiful spots but this wasn’t one of them. But Berkley Riverfront gets 2 stars from me instead of 1 because, hey, at least KC is trying.

This is one of my favorite places in the city! It’s perfect for just about everything. Whether you want to take a long walk, ride your bike, play volleyball, have a picnic or watch the sunset, this place is the best spot. There is plenty of parking on the grounds, but it can be difficult when attending events at this location. There is a trail around the river that leads you across a bridge to the River Market. On the bridge are several locks people have put on. It’s a cute idea for best friends or long term mates. The area is normally heavily populated, if safety is a concern. — The views here are unmatched and breathtaking, make sure to visit soon!

Great views but not as family friendly as some other places I have been to. I went on a Sunday and there was alot of young adults smoking pot, respectfully ofcourse, but the smell was in different areas of the park and regardless of what anyone smokes I prefer not to be around the smoke or smell, especially with kids. We had our pup and he is very social, and loves to meet new friends. People with their dogs here seemed very introverted. Actually everyone in general. Which I respect, but as dog owners normally there is a connection between us and I didnt get it here. Overall, great place to visit for the view but just not for me.

This is a nice park, there may be others in the metro more suited to your needs depending on what you're looking for. I'd say if walking trails and exercising your dogs are a priority there are other parks that are better for that. This does have a really special view of one of the architectural downtown bridges but that's really the only "view". There are some nice shade trees and picnic tables. There are also sand volleyball courts and outdoor gym equipment available. There's plenty of free parking around so don't worry about that if you're not familiar with the area.

This park is still under a lot of construction as of March 2024, but it is still possible to walk along most of the sidewalk. The construction and dump trucks are loud and dogs afraid of noise won’t do well. There is at least one doggie waste station along the path. In a year, we will return for a visit and see the final design. It is a walking/jogging path along the water, not a picnic area, restroom or playground available as of today. But, it is a nice long interesting walk with much to look at such as new apartment living, the new soccer stadium and the river.
