Pedra do Sal on a Friday Night. Being in Lapa in the older part of the city, starting later in the night, a rainy one for us, it was an experience. The area has competing bars playing outrageously loud music to no apparent effect and trying to sell you alcohol. There is a seamy side to the party, a public one with Live music in the middle that starts around 8pm Mon & Fri. LG..+ Friendly, lots of smoke, some a little too drunk, selling drugs, themselves and everything in-between, one would think. There are also poor people trying to collect recyclables strewn around. Its grimy. Its narrow and crowded and will attract Pick-pockets. So be aware of your surroundings, go with a friend, ensure you don't drink too much. Getting there from Sul(South) and back seems to involve driving through some grim and strangely empty streets. So ensure you have a Uber/A99 driver with a high rating and have a connection to your phone, so you know where your car is heading. Do not take any valuables, keep your iphone tucked in unless in use and keep a couple of stores of money you. Keep a card of you hotel. Not many cops particularly around this square. It is still fun, its a almost Rave party and music was good. Do Not Wander off onto the side alleys...

If you’re looking to feel like you’ve discovered the real Rio de Janeiro or to get that “favela vibe” for your followers, this is your place.

I have nothing against cultural manifestations—I’m glad the economy grows through countless influencers and TikTokers playing the new Magellans.

However, the place offers nothing more than low-quality beers and caipirinhas, accompanied by music that, while surely beautiful, sounds terrible due to the sheer number of people making stories or going live. The noise is so overwhelming that you can’t hear anything unless you’re very close to the band. No one sings, and few people dance, leading me to conclude that the place is full of tourists who think they’re influencers.

If you’re seeking an authentic experience, this isn’t it. Any restaurant with a nice live band has more soul. If you’re just curious, grab two drinks and go. There’s nothing else to see. But if you want to upload a story to your social media, then this is the...

It gets very busy. We went at 8 and got a seat on the rock. It’s very slippery though so wear good shoes and trousers as it can be sticky too. We saw three people fall and spill their entire drinks on the crowd! Haha! It gets very crowded and we left at midnight but was still pumping. This was a Monday night. They have hundreds of caipirinhas stands and some take ages to make but are very very strong. You can buy food on a stick. There are no toilets apart from paying to go into the bars. Be aware of your valuables as it does become packed!! Samba music as well as some hip hop! Also get an Uber there… it’s in downtown Rio surrounded by quiet derelict streets. But the street itself has Loads of police cars and police at the end of the strip where you can drop off and wait for your Uber.

This place is the ultra rare 6 out of 5 stars! It might be "festive perfection". If you like Lapa, you will absolutely LOVE this place!!! A super safe street party 5 nights a week... tons of different atmospheres to choose from... with varied music. It's about 20% gay, so it keeps the intolerant, aggressive types out. The drink shacks are in the dozens, super cheap, huge strong as you wish, and incredibly well made. There's meat sticks & every other kind of food. You can go to the super crowded zones & dance or stay in any of the varied outskirt areas to chat, flirt, hang out, take photos, etc. Tons of gorgeous artsy girls, street art, and a really joyous feeling! Take an uber as it's tricky to get to and surrounded by more questionable areas perhaps. Go! You will never forget it!

I've never been to this place, and I found this gentlemen quiet, selling his candies. I stopped by and asked him if everything was fine, since a lot of people where dancing and he was standing still. He said he enjoys seeing the young's excitementment. He also said that his doctor mentioned that if he continues on the way he is, he will probably exceed 100 years. I enjoyed the talk a lot. He is supporting his family and enjoying in his head, at the same time. I was touched by him and I gave him some cash, that would, othewise, be used to buy some more beers ;). It is interesting to stop by and learn from the POV of others. Most of the time I get surprised.
