Durham Centre — Attraction in Ajax

Let's be real...costco in general rocks but this location has always been a hit or miss depending on the day. Here's some positives:

1. pharmacy always on point; they are efficient
2. majority of cashiers are fast and friendly
3. optical dept is good
4. washrooms are clean
5. thumbs up for the guys who have to gather all the carts left all over the parking lot while attempting not to get run over

Needs improvement on:

1. customer service for returns (some of the staff there are just plain rude... For customer service though?)
2. if the cashier makes a mistake with your receipt (E.g. Forget to scan an item in your cart) and you don't catch it, they can't fix it for you at customer service. You have to go all the way back to the desk by the other end of the warehouse and then stand in the line (again) to leave. For their error?!
3. rotisserie chickens! Costco policy is suppose to have rotisserie chickens up until closing. Often, they have already run out an hour and half before closing and none on the go.... Frustrating if you went there specifically to grab one for family dinner.
4. sometimes aisles are a mess with boxes and product everywhere
5. food court staff look miserable and speak as if the customer has offended or annoyed the beep out of them. In their defense, perhaps it's a high stress environment but still, take a breather and rotate staff!
6. food court tables are always dirty from the last diner. It's up to the new diner/customer to clean up the stains/spills on the tables
7. in store sale signs (typically in the meat department) are not taken down when the item is sold out for the day. Frustrating because if the item is no more, take the sign away so people aren't standing around wondering if there will be a restock anytime soon.
8. some of the boxed salads/veggies in the produce and/or cooler section need checking for quality control. E.g. Some of the salads are literally all wilted and releasing juices at the bottom when box is flipped over.

Overall, Costco is bomb but the shopping experience here can...

Very busy place at weekends, but plenty of parking lots. I have been there yesterday for groceries in Costco. Long line up during covid19 but it’s moving fast. Reusable bags are not allowed to be used in store and all groceries should be in the cart instead taking care of public health. So don’t take bags and keep them in the car. It’s raining these days; so make sure you have your umbrella handy to avoid running under the rain and its not allowed to get the entrance packed with people waiting for cars to pick up. Great and unbeatable prices in Costco and fresh fruits and veggies are always available. While I don’t suggest singles to shop there, there are good stuff to pick. It’s probably best for families because things come in large quantities. Clothes are available there with good price also. There buttery and fresh croissants are amazing. Variety of healthy dips are available- hummus...

Well it's a one stop shopping center, , you can almost have everything you need park your car , you can leisurely spend 8 to 10 hours of a weekend with sense of doing the necessary jobs, having food, drinks and entertainment 😉😀 Go to Costco n buy your bulks, visit Walmart by all your smaller necessities, have coffee in Tim's, relax n have haircut in Chatters, Have pizza meal at Boston Pizza, watch movie in cineplex, buy home needs in home depot........... come back home, put in antiSnoring drops and getup up next...
