A Perfect Hike with Spectacular Views - A Must-Visit in Waterton!
Bear’s Hump is one of the best hikes I’ve done in Waterton, and it truly lives up to its reputation.
Although the trail is relatively short, it’s a steep climb that offers just the right amount of challenge for hikers of all levels.
The best part? The stunning, panoramic views waiting for you at the top. As you make your way up, the anticipation builds, and once you reach the summit, you’re rewarded with jaw-dropping vistas of Waterton Lake, the townsite, and the surrounding rugged mountains. It’s a breathtaking sight that’s hard to capture fully in photos, but definitely worth trying!
The trail itself is well-maintained and easy to follow, with some benches along the way if you need to catch your breath or take in the views from different spots. Despite the incline, it’s manageable for most, and the sense of accomplishment you feel when you reach the top is fantastic.
I recommend going early in the morning to avoid crowds and to enjoy a peaceful moment at the summit. Whether you’re an avid hiker or just looking for a great view, Bear’s Hump is an essential part of any visit to Waterton Lakes National Park....

Wait for gusts to go to take pictures standing and hotel and lake view in the backdrop. Dont stand near edges as the gusts and wind is very strong and can push you down.
Parking was empty and is actually walkable from the waterton visitor center. no restrooms on the top. No public transportation in my knowledge to...

Wear comfortable walking /hiking good grip shoes. At the top it’s so rewarding beautiful scenery. Lots of spots to sit down have a bit to eat. Relax before coming down. Tip: please take water and some snacks to have granola or some cut up fruits. At the top please be careful it’s super windy that you could lose your balance. Coming down is so easy it’s a piece of cake but the loose gravel makes it slippery so watch out for that. We saw families with little kids, lots of families...
