When I was young, we’d watch Sgt. Preston. I’ve always wanted to know more about the NWMP. The museum showed me a better understanding of the NWMP. The history of the fort and of the RCMP was fascinating and impressive. I’d always had a lot of respect of the RCMP and now even more.

The museum was very informative. There was a nice little shop with a variety of items related to the frontier and RCMP/NWMP.

The best part of the museum was the ‘Musical Ride’ performed by volunteers who do a magnificent job of showing their horsemanship. The routines are great. The riders are very willing to answer any questions asked of them. I would recommend 1) checking their website for their schedule and 2) IF there is any kind of inclement weather in the area, call to verify the riders will be performing. I just wish I was able to film the performance. I think, should we be back in AB again, we will return...

CPF Alberta & NWT hosted a day of educational programming here at the Fort Museum. The Fort Museum provided an unforgettable day for our group, immersing participants in the fascinating history of the North West Mounted Police and the region. The staff were friendly, organized, and willing to share their knowledge with the help of a translator, making the experience both educational and fun. Our group loved the authentic displays and interactive elements, and the atmosphere made it easy to imagine life in the fort’s early days. The museum team’s hospitality and attention to detail helped make our program a success, and we highly recommend this venue for group visits, school programs, and...

Love this fort. Planned a day trip with some people who have never been and made a day of it in the town.

normally I would give this a 4 or a 5, but I found it pretty disappointing that when we checked in, nobody told us that we wouldn't be able to go into the buildings.

being able to look in, doesn't give the tour as much justice. So even though it was still fun, it would have been nice to know what was going on before we went in.

it also seemed strange that there were 6 or 7 staff, fully masked inside, instead of stationed sporadically in the fort reminding people not to touch anything and to social distance? Just seemed like a waste...

An underrated place you must visit. You can pay to groom your horse and learn about them. Then you are taken for a ride on your horse. Our family of 8 went. Some of us have never been so close to horses before but it was well worth the experience in petting them to actually seeing them as harmless and quite friendly. The Fort is a must. As there is a lot of Blackfoot history in the museum along with many artifacts from others as well. ALL the workers from inside to the trainers were really friendly and made it all wonderful. They work very hard and it shows. Our family are really happy to have met them and have this experience.

This is a part of Alberta's and Canada's history that should not be missed if you are in the area. The museum has several displays about the history of the NWMP/RCMP that are informative and eye opening. There are also several displays that demonstrate how these men lived and worked in the rugged western frontier. If you go take the time to take in the musical ride. Though smaller in numbers they do a good job demonstrating the skills the mounted members needed to learn and demonstrate to be on the Musical Ride.
