Our group booked two powered sites for 4 nights. Pros: 1. The location is prime as the beautiful beach and hiking trail are just next door. 2. Co-op market and gasoline/propane is right beside, making shopping easy. 3. There is good enough cell phone signal. 4. Staffs are helpful in resetting the breaker when we tripped it. Cons: 1. The first challenge was finding shades under the scorching sun. We had to be creative in hanging up tarps as there’s not enough trees to tie down. 2. Grounds are not level so not good for tenting. 3. Potty toilets are stinky and a bit gross. The newer outhouse is the only one not stinky but the garbage bin inside was always full. 4. There are four shower rooms for the whole site so lineup in the evening is unavoidable but not too bad since it costs (2 minutes for $1). We didn’t know showers closed at 10pm - we missed one night and were devastated. 5. Campsites are small and open, lack privacy. Honestly it felt like I went into a concentration camp as I walked through the main camping area (our sites were right by the entrance and they are not as tightly packed with the neighbors). This place could work for people with a RV or a camper van. It will take some major upgrades before I will return.

Ever wanted to sleep right next to a dirt road on uneven ground with your neighbors 3 metres away from you? Want to pay around $45 a night for it? Want to not be able to burn even when there is no burn ban because the island residents said “Not today”? Want to stay up all night hoping a drunk driver doesn’t plow into your tent 3 metres from the road? On top of that you are not on the beach and your view consists of bushes instead? Well I didn’t, so I left. I’ll never come back to this hole in the forest where they crammed over 130 stalls to maximize their profit. Something needs to be done about this.

Much left to be desired at this campground. Location cannot be beat so I think that's why it's so popular, but it could be so much better. Toilets are really unpleasant, mixed clientele (families w kids and young ppl who like to smoke a joint first thing in the morning) and the water is super gross for drinking and even making tea/coffee. We used alot of bottled water. But the beach is amazing and the little plaza with the coop has some gems (like Forage restaurant and the burrito truck!) BRING CASH as many places are cash only

The campground it self was nice. It was clean and well maintained.. The lady who cleaned up the sites after check outs was absolutely wonderful and kind. However, the service from the office my group received was absolutely horrible... When making our reservation we phoned the office multiple times leaving multiple messages over a period of a week. (mind you this was a month before our planned vacation) Finally after writing an email requesting a reservation they responded with a phone call. My group and i work health care. Needless to say, it is very very difficult to get vacation time in the summer months. With saying that, we requested a reservation for Wednesday night, and Thursday night. They repeated those dates to us on the telephone and assured us we would receive a confirmation email. We did not receive a confirmation email. Despite our many efforts to connect via phone before our arrival, we were unable to connect with the office again. Upon arrival on the Wednesday afternoon we were met by a lady in the office and told we were a day late for our reservation. And that our reservation was for tues, wed, Thursday. We were told that we were required to pay for the extra night AND we had to switch camp sites mid stay. The office worker had zero interest to discuss. And did not care that we did not receive a confirmation email or that we tried reaching out on multiple occasions to request a confirmation email. We were very clear on our dates when making our reservations. The employee made us feel incredibly uncomfortable and was aggressive in her tone when telling us it was our error and that we were required to pay the difference. An error was made on their behalf and we were forced to endure their mistake. Since there wete no other options for accommodations we had to stay. This was not a great way to begin our island adventure and it absolutely put a damper on our stay.. And having to pack up all of our gear and move sites on Thursday was a...

We booked our site online back in February. We were told a few weeks later that there had been a glitch with their booking system and they need to move our site, as the one we originally booked would be where the new septic field would be. We had zero problem with this and were offered another similar site close to the rest of our group. We received a new confirmation email and our Visa was charged, as it should’ve been.

July 24th, we travelled from Comox Valley and arrived to check-in at 12pm, only to find that there will still occupants in the site we were booked to stay at. We tracked down a Parks Attendant, and they informed us they had double booked our site. A few moments later they told us they had a backup site we could have. We were pretty disappointed, as it was literally on the opposite end of the campground from where the rest of our group was staying, but thankful we weren’t going to be turned away.

A few hours later, our friends who booked a double site found out the other party wasn’t coming and offered us to move to their site. Of course we jumped at the opportunity to be closer to our group. We went to tell the Park Attendant that we were moving into the double site and asked if our park fees could be transferred to pay for half the double site. They flat out told us they wouldn’t be giving anyone a refund or credit, despite them messing up my booking TWICE, and even said “we could’ve just cancelled your booking and you wouldn’t have had anything….”

While I’m thankful that everything did work out for us, I’m pretty bummed with how the situation was handled.

I hope this doesn’t happen to anyone else, so my advice is to call ahead to ensure your...

There are definitely pros and cons about Tribune Bay Campsite. If your expecting a Provincial Park campsite experience, sorry it not happening. Some sites are big some sites are not, some are close to your neighbours, some are better but at the end of the day, location is the best, Big Tribune Beach is awesome for the whole family. Walking distance to the beach, grocery store (co-op), liquor store and hardware store is all in one and is next to the campground. Take advantage of the whole island, Helliwell Provincial Park, Whaling Station Beach, Sandpiper Beach to name a few is a must. Mt Geoffrey Regional Park is awesome if your into mountain biking, Phrog distillery is delicious if your a gin sipper, weekend market is a must for their popcorn, frozen banana and of course their local art. There’s lots of exploring to do, crabs to catch in the tide pools, hiking, birding, or just lounging around if that’s your thing. Campsite is also next to a small golf course and Crabbing is a great way to spend time with the kids.(No hand picking this year due to the heat wave) My family and I came from the lower mainland, we’ve been twice and will continue to return year after year. 3 ferries usually take a whole day, depending when you travel. The noise level both years we’ve been camping have been at a minimal, loud voices, car alarms at most. Nothing outta the norm. We stayed for 10 nights, my wife and our 2 and 6 year olds. It was such an awesome time, can’t wait to go back.

Ps. The outhouses do stink because of obvious reasons but it’s camping. Sometimes people fill the outhouses will potpourri but to tell you the truth, I’d rather have the original odour in...
