Marten Arts Gallery — Attraction in Bluewater

Extremely rude staff. Went in today and my autistic son had a mild meltdown (I mean MILD) I sat him on their stairs, nowhere near art, and talked him through his emotions. Half way through my talk I was interrupted with "do you have to do that inside. You're making me nervous". In a snippy tone. My son wasn't flailing, stomping or moving at all. Just holding my hands while crying. I said "we're absolutely fine and in control" and continued to talk to my son. We then walked around very calmly and respectfully (I am a former museum worker and make a strong point in teaching my boys how to respect art). I need to preface this review by saying I don’t like AI art, and it soured my views of the gallery. That said, the gallery did have art that wasn’t AI (hence the remaining stars).

This gallery has always held a special place in my heart with the driftwood artworks and local artists featured there. A majority of the art was local scenery, or driftwood art from the local beach. The AI art was mainly featured on the second floor, but one canvas was on the main floor (pictured).
