I've been coming to the Crossroads Market ever since it was on 16th Avenue Northwest, when it was massive. This more condensed Market hasn't changed much in the many years that it's been open which is kind of nice because if you're looking for something in particular, it's quite easy to find. Saddened to see many of the originals gone. Good to see the leather guy. I am, however surprised by some of the quite rude vendors. The cheese market had an interesting man there (in his what I think late 30s) with glasses on who was seemingly trying to be funny but he was actually so rude and snarky to my mother-in-law it was shocking. Even when he could tell that we didn't find him funny, it felt like he doubled down on his rudeness and if he is so unhappy to be there then he shouldn't be there. The guy at Chongo's Market that was helping with the cherries was very informative and honest, we appreciated his help. In one of the sections there is a coffee place, which I really feel bad for not remembering the name of but it is diagonal from one of the vendors that has delicious East Indian food and then beside them there is Jamaican food. Anyway, the coffee place, had the best latte I've ever had for sure but again from a very unfriendly person. I don't understand this dynamic. These vendors make all of their money on weekends and yet they choose to treat people like that and they wonder why people don't want to buy more from them. I think people are starting to realize that some of us are going to just give out the energy we receive. Other than that, the Turkish corner is outstanding and same with the vendor beside them with all of the beautiful bread. That is definitely a reason to go there, that bread alone. It's made fresh and it...
Read moreI have been going here for the last 5 years since I initially discovered it and the charm of the place is wearing out. I love finding second-hand vintage findings and goods and sadly, the selection for these kind of wares is lacking at this market. There are many vendors selling "vintage" things, but they are not worth the prices they ask for. A lot of it seems to be found from garage sales, estate sales or even thrift stores. I used to shop at the vendor who has all of the camera lenses and small selection of jewellery, but it's honestly of very low quality and not the $60-$100 price tag he asks for. There are a lot of new items and products sold at this market, but they all suffer from the problem of being overpriced and a lack of authenticity. You really get the feeling that people are just trying to make a fast buck and there's no heart behind what they're selling. I also find the lack of ventilation and food smells to be very overwhelming. In all, it's an interesting experience and you should visit at least once to see the more local side of Calgary away from all of our malls. At the same time, don't go expecting to find great deals or "treasures"; you'll just be...
Read moreIf I could give negative stars I would. I was just in this market, looking at some wonderful things by vendors and trying to find some items to bring to my family who I am visiting. I am from South Florida and I’m in town for almost a month But I was told I needed to leave because my dog who is a medically trained service dog was not allowed. They said he wasn’t the right size and because I’m not blind. I have a medical condition that I require a medical service dog for and he is little because I have a very small home. This is 100% discrimination and I have informed my lawyer and the American disability act. I’ve never been so frustrated in my entire life and the stress they are causing me is not good for my health. One woman in a walker asked if she was gonna be asked to leave as well because she had a walker. I provided them all of the paperwork and proof needed, but they still told me I had to leave. I would highly recommend to anybody to stay far away from a place that willingly and knowingly and illegally...
