The Comox Valley has a number of beautiful spots to watch the sun set but I think the Comox Marina is perhaps the best. As the sun inches it's way down below the mountains the colours play out beautifully across the water, the masts of the boats, the warm wood of the walkway and the skies. The personality of the place changes by season due to the variety of boats (some times there are more fishing vessels than pleasure craft), the migration of wildlife (seals, sea lions, heron, eagles, kingfishers, orca, etc.) all of which I have seen numerous times from the marina boardwalk. In milder weather the gardens bloom with gorgeous perennials and cacti and the park is filled with laughter as families gather for picnics, frisbee tossing and watching the children play in the nautical pirate shipped themed water playground. Spring to fall several food trucks make this their home so people bring lawn chairs and enjoy the diverse menus. When we just moved to the Valley, our young Son enjoyed playing in the little Kidz play area or participating in some games on the greens. Subsequently, a new little Waterpark has made Summer days even more fun for the young ones. The Park host many festivities & events over the course of a year, including Nautical Days on the BC Day long weekend. It's also a terminal for Harbour Air, flying straight to Vancouver, Fishing Boats selling their catch in season and local Yacht Clubs. Kids enjoyed the playground for a short while before more kids showed up and we needed to follow distancing rules. Washrooms were open and allowed them to wash their hands afterwards.
