The atmosphere is spacious and pleasant and has the advantage of being one of the few paces open later in the town.
A small selection of sandwiches and treats are available
Baristas are usually friendly although service tends to be slow
Drinks are not expertly made but certainly drinkable
For aprox 3 times in a row drink orders have been mixed up, which having been a barista in high end coffee shops, I get it, things are busy it happens, smile to the customer and remake it, your tip jar will show peoples appreciation. The last one was a Flat white being turned into a 'Large Flat white' which is simply a latte, a flat white requiring a specific milk/espresso ratio and 'silked' milk, it is traditionally a 5 - 6 oz drink and is made to emphasize the taste of the espresso. The last time I simply took the drinks back, apologized for the hassle, to which the barista grimaced, poured the poorly steamed drinks into smaller cups waited a minute as if they remade them and re-served them. We left the drinks on the table and decided the cafe could use some constructive comments to an otherwise decent cafe. I would recommend proper training to bring staff up to modern standards, which would speed up the long wait times and eliminate confusion on how to actually make the drinks...

For "covid reasons", they offered to make it in a disposable cup, which I could poor into my own (which defeats the purpose of trying not to use a single-use cup). Instead they made my coffee in a mug, which I then poured into my insulated cup (and spilled half of it in the process). Other coffee shops (Milano's, Franky Jo's, etc.) have been taking personal cups for almost a year now so I was disappointed that The Mill is not also making an effort to keep Comox as green...
Read moreI work down the street from this amazing coffee shop. It is honestly my go to place for coffee & lunch, and breakfast too. The atmosphere of this place is so welcoming, I always am greeted by the owner Dion, who always asks how you’re doing - making it that much more special & personable. He also makes the best sandwiches & food! I love the berry & brie sandwich and avocado toast if I had to choose a favourite. Drink wise you can never go wrong with a flat white or lavender honey latte (I get mine with oat milk). I always recommend my friends to visit here or bring them here myself when they...
