Mic Mac Mall is a place in transition. There are several vacant shop areas awaiting tenants; some with signage indicating that new tenants will be arriving; some without signage. Typically, the closer we get towards Christmas, the more we start to see seasonal stores using the spaces. I have usually found the mall staff to be helpful and considerate. amenities: The washrooms are not in the best of shape and that's being diplomatic. the overall air quality can be a little difficult after about 20 minutes. I have often encountered women with tiny humans looking for the designated quiet space where they can nurse their infant - so signage is a bit of an issue there. with three levels and washrooms on every level, one would think there would be more than one hidden area in the mall for this. Not all ladies are personally comfortable nursing their baby in a more public setting. People travelling with large strollers or those persons who use wheelchairs seem to end up in long queues to use the main elevator - which can hold two large strollers and a couple of friendly adults at a time, a situation which tends to provoke many adults into taking their strollers and the occupants onto the escalators - an activity which causes everyone a certain amount of visual stress. It is nice to see there are now more areas with soft chairs / sofa type settings so that someone, (usually but not always, a man) can wait comfortably - while someone else (usually but not always, a woman) can finish shopping. the food court is always awkward to negotiate, whether it's busy or not - there is something about the layout that seems to encourage a lot of people bumping into or nearly bumping into a lot other people. fortunately, Canadians are really good at apologising and fortunately, Maritimers are a pretty darn friendly bunch. It would be so nice to see this mall undergo a renovation / modernisation because it is a convenient place to shop with the solid expected...
Read moreI realize we are in a new normal with this Covid but respect kindness and understanding still go along way! People with disabilities still have disabilities Covid or no Covid! I took my Nephews & Mom out to supper in your food court today at 4:30 we spent $45 on our meals we sat away from others and followed all Covid protocol! We had to sit at the booth as that is the only seat that was provided for my nephew who has trouble getting up & down out of chairs. ( the booths are more stable ). We just started to eat & we’re enjoying our meal & time together. Along comes a security guard who says we need to move we can’t sit there. We explained to him our situation and he said you can’t sit in the other chairs which we explain no the issues are getting up. We need the security of the booth. He said sorry you need to go! We would of only been there 10-15 min to finish our supper and then be on our way! We were no where near anyone else !! I know there’s rules but with a disability there should be an exception especially if your not gonna provide us with another place to be able to sit and eat! We got up all our food went to garbage as we had no place to eat it!! I am so upset and disappointed as our day has been completely ruined! I’ve called your guest services and was instructed to call Manager in am.. I now have family members upset as like I said for the 10-15 min it would of taken for us to eat & leave has now turned into trying to make everyone feel better & make sense of what just happened! Thank you Mic Mac Mall for ruining our day! I suggest you find a way to make your food court more accessible to people with disabilities and maybe have a little more compassion to those...
