Fisherman’s Cove – A Charming Coastal Gem in Eastern Passage
Fisherman’s Cove in Eastern Passage is a charming, colorful seaside village just outside Halifax. I visited on a cloudy day, but the vibrant little shops and peaceful ocean views made it unforgettable.
The boardwalk is lined with brightly painted cottages housing local boutiques, ice cream spots, and artisan shops—perfect for a leisurely stroll. I also learned that lobster is still harvested and processed here, keeping its fishing village roots alive.
The Fisherman’s Cove Heritage Centre shares stories of the area’s rich history, including the Mi’kmaq, who first settled the area with seasonal fishing camps as early as 350 AD.

The boardwalk is lined with charming shops, each with its own personality, offering everything from handmade crafts to fresh seafood. The views of the harbour are stunning, especially with seagulls gliding overhead and the gentle sound of waves lapping against the shore.
The Heritage Centre adds depth to the visit, with thoughtful displays that highlight the maritime history of Eastern Passage. It’s clear the community takes pride in maintaining the area—everything was clean, well-kept, and full of character. Whether you’re looking to relax, explore, or pick up a few local treasures, Fisherman’s Cove delivers. I added a few photos to my review to capture the vibe, but honestly, it’s even better in person. Highly recommend for locals and...
Read moreLove this place! Took my kids down there fishing before, off the dock where the boats are! It's exciting for the kids to catch and release the fish! There are cute little shops lined up for you to visit and a lovely little restaurant! Taking a walk around the boardwalk is always nice, and just sitting on the sandy beach is relaxing! Kids go in and play in the water, and just enjoy being out by the water without being crowded! There's always people walking around with dogs, so if you're an animal lover there's usually a large selection of puppies to pet and hug! We've brought over a little charcoal BBQ before and had a picnic on the beach, that was fun! It's nice and relaxing there! It's busy but not too busy, which is surprising TBH! It's a gorgeous little spot and we absolutely love heading down there and just spending the day there! Have a visit! Can't go wrong...
