Edit: I would happy to explain in detail all the issues. Except you havent provided a contact.
And just to make clear my issues with the 81 St location, I went there twice in a span of three weeks about a year and a half ago and both times, the fellow at the till had a beer in a can cozy and smelled of both booze and cannabis, he also smoked a joint while I was reading and waiting for a ride. The second time he was noticably intoxicated. I decided to just not go there anymore.
Also I dont think sayin 'Oh Okay well I am a bit dissapointed but I understand' directly to the fellow helping me with the book trade, in an entirely empty store on a Sunday morning deserves what kind of service I received.
If the Wee Book Inn Management is actually interested in hearing about these issues Im down for them to send me an email or leave a phone number. But I am done with spending my time and money at any of your establishments.
Original Post: Unfriendly service. Small selection. I found out when I left from my friend that I was getting massive eyerolls from one of the staff.
My whole experience there was them trying to rush me out of the store. Dont bother bringing in books to exchange. They treat you like a lesser customer and they give you really bad value.
Wee Book Inn has been become such a disappointment. It used to be really enjoyable. But my last three trips to the Inn at all 3 locations have been awful.
Although the downtown location was only bad because of limited selection. The human that works there was chill as all hell. Both of the other locations have the worst...
Read moreI came to this book store dropping off my book in hopes of distributing copies. When I came back to pick it up, after they said they wouldn’t be able to sell it, I was told they were unable to locate the book. I waited quite a while to receive an update on the books location but months passed and nothing, so I returned to the store to ask about it in person once more. The first thing the employee told me was that it was now their property even though I hadn’t received any calls, messages or anything from them since dropping it off. The employee kept getting frustrated with me and continued to tell me that this is the process they always take almost insinuating that I wasn’t being truthful…. this was until another employee chimed in saying that they did not do the process correctly when I was in and no forms were filled out. They then said they still couldn’t locate my book and would be in further contact. I got a call last week saying that they had finally found it and I could come into pick it up.
Fast forward to today I got a pretty nasty voice mail from the Manager, Dave stating that this is a “colossal waste of his time” and “if i don’t pick up the book it will be in the trash”.
All in all the whole process with the Wee Book Inn has been very passive aggressive and honestly very disappointing. I’ve had to come back to them multiple times without any known location of my book yet a week after they find it it’s now a major...
Read moreWeebook Inn is one of my favorite bookstores in Edmonton. I’ve been to both the Whyte Ave and Jasper Ave locations, and I love them. The vibe is cozy, quiet, and perfect for browsing. It really feels like stepping into a different time—no rush, no pressure, just shelves full of books waiting to be explored.
The Whyte Ave location even has a beautiful resident cat named Fleur! If you’re lucky, you’ll spot her lounging around. I think their bookmarks (used as book card holders) are based on her—at least that’s what someone there told me, and it just makes the whole place feel extra special.
Their prices are amazing, especially for used books. As someone who reads a lot, I really appreciate that they make books more affordable. It’s great to see good books being reused and loved again. And if they don’t have what you’re looking for, you can ask them to keep an eye out for it. They’ll even give you a call when it comes in.
The staff are super friendly and really know their stuff. You can ask for recommendations, talk about different authors or genres, or just chat. They’re always happy to help. They also answer phone calls if you prefer to ask your questions that way.
Overall, I always have a great time at Weebook Inn. It’s the kind of place where you can spend hours browsing and never get bored. Whether you’re a serious reader or just looking for something new to read, I highly recommend...
