We stopped here about 30 minutes after the cafe opened for the day, the space is cute, I loved the mishmash of odd dishes and the overall vibe of the space itself was quirky and enjoyable. I did find the food options to be fairly lackluster as the display case was half empty with labels that didn't match the baked goods. I had actually chosen this spot for breakfast based on the food photos, though the wall menu only listed the beverage options. Upon asking the barista if they no longer served the items in the photos (and showing the photos), she told me that she could make a ham and cheese breakfast croissant or a bacon and egg breakfast bun, so we opted for one of each. We were later told that the food board wasn't up because it was being repaired, but even a handwritten signs stating with the food options were would have been nice. Both sandwiches were really good, the "cinnamon bun" was a bit dry, but I was very happy with my iced chai latte, despite the straw being the same height as the glass and therefore mostly pointless. The coffee was not very hot, which was a disappointing and had us questioning how fresh it was. It seems to be a "serve yourself" atmosphere, so when your food or drink is ready, it is stuck on the counter and shouted at to inform you to come get it. I personally did not care for that and it caught me a bit off guard. We were the only ones in there at the time, so I was surprised that it was not brought to the table. When you were done, you clear your own table and bring everything to the side where there is a bin for dirty dishes and a garbage. It does seem to be a busy little spot, but it left something to be desired for us personally. I attempted to use the washroom (there are two available in the hall), but the one I walked into was in need of cleaning as there was fecal matter on various areas of the toilet seat - I returned to the key and let the barista know, she said they aren't the ones who clean it but she'll let them know across the way, so I'm thinking the responsibility belongs to one of the other businesses in the building. There is an adorable little eating area outside the back, but I couldn't say for sure if it belongs to this cafe. I'm glad I went as a one off, though I likely will not be back.

It was a full-circle moment walking into Woodrack Café—nestled in the space that once housed Beadworks, right across from where I worked from 2007 to 2013. I was at the Old Strathcona Farmers' Market just last Saturday, but today I discovered that Woodrack has quietly been serving the community for three years now—though the building itself has been around for a decade, as the solo barista kindly shared amidst the bustle. My friend and I had coffee and a London Fog—both comforting and well made, perfect for the mellow, lived-in ambience of the place. Despite the rush, the barista held it down with calm efficiency, and the whole space had a welcoming rhythm that made me want to linger. Old haunts may evolve, but when they’re replaced by thoughtful cafés like Woodrack, the change feels more like continuity than loss. Noteworthy that since OSYS closed the crime rate has gone down in the area and #Varscona theatre must be so relieved!!!

On the journey to review coffee shops all through edmonton, this little gem was recommended to me for their finely brewed drip coffee. Upon arrival midday Saturday, we found the guest seating almost completely full. The location afforded them much walk in traffick. We found the only table left and ventured to the counter. I waited...and waited. I went back to my seat. I waited. I went up to the backroom door, loudly knocked and stuck my head in, "Hello!" No one there. In the 7 or so minutes I waited, three more guests had come in stood with me for a few moments and left. I finally did get my coffee. It was amazing. Richly flavored and roasted to perfection for a medium roast. My companion and I ended up finishing our coffees on a walk down Whyte. It may have been a one time experience with staff gone so long, I was ok with it. Ambiance and taste made up for the weak customer service. We will go back.

Nice place. Small. Good food at a fair price. The soup and sandwiches are very good.

The coffee is okay. Unfortunately, like most places, they can't make a cappuccino. It's too big. Cappuccinos are traditionally between 5 and 6 oz, any larger and it is no longer a cappuccino, it's a latte. There is no such thing as a large cappuccino. Just as there is no such thing as a large macchiato. If your macchiato has more than just espresso and foam, it's not a macchiato.

I would recommend the owner and baristas go try the cappuccinos at Ace, De Capo, Sugar Bowl and Iconoclast. If you want to serve a cappuccino on your menu, then take notes from those places because they serve actual cappuccinos, not off-brand Starbucks.

Edit: accomodatting everyone's taste is not the point. If I order a cappuccino, I expect a cappuccino, not a latte. If people want an espresso drink with more milk then they can order a latte. It's already on the menu. Your menu is misleading. You only serve varying...

Went there last Friday before my hubbys dr. appointment and ordered an iced Americano and an iced latte. Before I start writing my reviews, I admit that I am not a coffee master who studies coffee but I know what I got from this coffee shop was just absolute joke. I do drink a cup of coffee to start my days and I know what americano and latte is: ESPRESSO SHOTS with water for americano and milk for latte. However, those two cups of coffees were sooooo watered down I could not taste the coffee at all. it was like they used the same espresso for many times or maybe it was brewed coffee and water? Even then, it was so bad I couldnt even finish it.. really it was worse than just boiled water. To be honest, I expected a lot better coffee before I had my first sip because its pretty new cafe, the location and the price but whether it was a mistake or not, those coffees I got was the worst so far and I just regret that I did not go back to complain even after the...
