I called Halifax water to hammer down my isolation valve sticking out of my lawn. After a few days I realized my sump pump was coming on more that it should. I called Halifax water to explain the situation and they said no way it was the workers that could have caused that. After a few more weeks and no rain for a few months the water was still coming in. Coincidentally one day Halifax water was doing maintenance on the fire hydrant on my yard and knocked on my door saying good chance there is a water leak on you're property. Turns out it was definately the workers that broke there own water line. Long story short when I was on hold for about 25 mins after talking to the individual on the phone, I have a good feeling they were trying to get there stories strait to ensure they didnt have to deal with it. Lesson learned, this utility useless over the phone and will try and pass the bucket off to you.

Now, months later, they still refuse to turn our water back on, even after trying to come up with ways to pay, such as payment plans. I realize it is a bill, but water is a necessity and we are trying the best we can to pay it, but every time we try to come up with a solution, we're met with a disagreement and more pressure to pay in full, which they know we can't. We live with someone who has a dehydrating condition and needs water to live (nephrogenic diabetes insipidus), and we cannot even shower or flush our toilets. This is the worst service we've ever experienced and if they don't come up with a payment plan/solution so we can start paying off our bill, we'll take this wherever we need to...

I was extremely worried because the work had to be completed late on a Friday afternoon, requiring an after-hours reconnect, on the same night as our most recent massive snowstorm. I was sure I would be without water (and subsequently also without heat) for the weekend, during one of the worst weather events that we have had in years. To my amazement and deep relief, the after hours employee was at my house within an HOUR of calling for reconnect, despite the late hour and horrible weather.
