We got married at Okanagan Golf Club and it was truly the best venue! From the beginning, the event coordinator, Karin, was so kind, informative, and helpful. She went out of her way to accommodate us. For example, there was an event happening the day before our wedding, so we couldn't set up the night before, but she moved the event to the restaurant. She also let us borrow an easel for our seating chart, gave us lots of recommendations for vendors, and was flexible with our final guest count since a few of our guests were unsure if they would be able to make it to our big day due to circumstances beyond their control.
Since we are from Vancouver, we needed a venue that was easily accessible for all our guests coming into Kelowna. Okanagan Golf Club partnered with the Hampton Inn & Suites, who offered a shuttle service and a special rate, which was a five-minute drive away. They also had a shuttle to and from the airport, also very close by, which our guests really appreciated.
We were able to choose from two different ceremony sites: the gazebo, where we did our first look, and by the lake, which is where we had our ceremony. We also took our couple portraits around the golf course, which had some beautiful forest and hillside scenery.
The reception room was newly renovated, so it was very modern, spacious, and bright. We chose the Golden Bear buffet for our dinner. The prime rib was the best prime rib we've ever had, and our guests still talk about how good the dinner was to this day. The staff were so friendly and efficient, and even helped us pack up our centrepieces to pick up the next day.
They also set up golf balls for our guests to hit during the cocktail hour. After the wedding, we played two rounds of golf with our guests on both the Bear and Quail courses. The courses were beautiful, and we were even offered discounts, which was a great bonus.
We cannot thank Karin and the entire team at Okanagan Golf Club for making our special day...
Read moreThese 2 courses "The Quail" and "The Bear" have become quite famous for tourists as they have 2 different styles as well as lots of choices on dining and beverages . As a local we are lucky to have 2 such quality courses to play at the same location. I love it ! Over the years I have observed them continue to improve every year. Tweaking the courses a bit to make them play quicker and adjusting to mother nature as they mature. For others reading both courses are quite different. The Bear a classic Jack Nicklaus course design with wide forgiving fairways, lots of elevation change and large inviting greens. This course is considerably more forgiving than the Quail.
The Quail Course yet shorter than the Bear is a bit narrower, more difficult and very undulating with smaller greens. For the advanced golfer shooting a good score on this course is very rewarding. I love them both but when playing well, prefer the Quail. If only have time for 9 the Bear is my fav as 7, 8 & 9 offer good birdie chances which leaves room for a possible good score.
Both courses changed their greens a few years ago and have ultra modern grasses designed to work in this climate, a huge cost to do but in the end bring both courses to the top of the ladder. It really shows. The Clubhouse also has improved with time. New furnishings, new patio set up, and menus to suit all budgets. Always something on special if you cant decide what you want and want some help. The staff are seasoned professionals who are eager to please, most of them return each year as its a good place to work. Nice to see familiar faces when being served. This year its nice to see Lee Ranger as the head pro, job well done Lee.
Not many locals write reviews about their local courses but I felt it was time I did as I enjoy playing and dining here.
Many thanks to Dan Matheson for running such a good club and continuing to improve every year....
Read moreWe were blown away by everything Okanagan Golf Club had to offer for our wedding! Nicole and her team were absolutely amazing all day. We had our entire wedding planned March 2020 right before the COVID pandemic was announced. Throughout this entire time, our communication with Nicole was top-notch. She was constantly communicating the new changes as BC's reopening plans were updating, and she was able to provide us with a baseline on how 2020 weddings ran to give us an idea of what we might expect for ours. We were extremely lucky to have a venue that could host an outdoor dance floor, and for this reason we were able to host a dance at our reception. The venue has extra decorations that we were welcome to use - from table runners and table cloths in different colours, multiple different flower vase shapes and sizes, different tea light designs, and dessert display platters - we took advantage of it by using their burgundy table runners, the tea lights and flower vases for our center pieces. A nice perk was that our booking includes 2 rounds of golf and carts, and that our wedding party was able to zip around on golf carts to get around and take photos throughout the golf course. Nicole even provided clubs for our guests to take advantage of the driving range during cocktail hour! The ceremony site includes seasonal flowers and drapery, which really takes the pressure off some of the decor planning. They also have benches for rent, which we took advantage of! The buffet and dessert received high praise from all of our guests and we were extremely happy with the options available during the planning stage. While we had a 30-person wedding due to COVID, Nicole's floor planning made the space welcoming and warm. There were so many small details that Nicole provided, and these really made us feel special and taken care of. We would happily book another large event with Nicole and her team at...
