As far as experience, food quality and taste, and service goes, it doesn't get better than this in Montreal. Having never tried Iraqi food, I decided on a whim to go here. Walking in, I felt at home, with all the delightful aromas wafting towards me. The lady behind the counter was very kind and helpful. I explained that it was my first time trying Iraqi food, and she went ahead and gave me descriptions of everything they had to eat. When I was still unsure of my choice, she gave me a small sample plate and filled it with various of the dishes so I could try them before making a decision, which was a very nice personal touch. Having tasted a few of the things, I opted for the Maqluba. This thing was top tier. First of all, an extremely hefty portion, probably weighing about a kilo and a half. Generously ordained with meat and delicious eggplant, carrots, tomatoes, eggplants, etc. Absolutely to die for, cooked and seasoned to perfection, everything went so well together. The meat was tender, the vegetables were soft, and the eggplant was absolutely sublime, all mixed in with some of the most aromatic rice you can imagine. Came with a yogurt sauce which was a nice addition. I ate to my heart's content and barely made a dent in the large container, taking half to eat later. I think it was around 16 bucks, which, considering the size of the meal and the sample I got at the beginning is an absolutely astounding price. It came with your choice of coffee and tea to complement the meal, and I opted for the tea, which was quite good and rather strong. All in all an excellent experience from start to finish, looking forward...

If you’re craving real Iraqi home cooking in Montreal, Feenah Takeout is the one. Tucked away in Ahuntsic, it’s the only place I’ve come across serving up traditional, homestyle Iraqi meals… and you can truly taste the love in every bite.
It was my first time trying Iraqi food, and I was so pleasantly surprised. Feenah (which I believe is a type of hat in Iraq) is family-run, and that warmth comes through in everything, from the flavors to the portions to the service.
The rice and meat combos are where they shine. • The spicy beef biryani was my personal favorite , deeply flavorful and perfectly seasoned. • I had a rice dish with potato and chicken that was pure comfort. • And the lamb? Fall-apart tender.
Don’t skip the sides: • Olive salad — bright, briny, and bold • Creamy hummus — smooth and satisfying • Potato salad — rich and homey • Iraqi style Tabouleh — fresh, herby, and zesty
If you’re in the neighborhood, don’t sleep on this one. Feenah is the real deal: generous portions, rich flavors, and a soulful taste of Iraqi tradition you won’t find anywhere else in the city.
