My Rights Violated and was Treated Like a Criminal
It doesn't matter how good of a customer you are, they'll still treat you like a criminal if the staff members' paranoia kicks in. No, this has nothing to do with shoplifting or exhibiting hostile behaviour. What happens if they unknowing treated a secret shopper this way? I can only imagine how true my co-workers' claims about how bad of an employer is. The manager on duty claims she's justified to treat customers this way because it (her) private property.
A. Wrighteous If this manager is this rude to me as a regular customer, I wonder what it'd be like to work under her. I will NEVER shop at Walmart again!!! Not worth the risk of getting a "fake" criminal record. 21h
Walmart Canada (Nanaimo) · Hi A., we're sorry to hear about your experience. Please send us a private message and elaborate more on your concern, so we may assist you. 18h
A. Wrighteous Is this the head store manager? Where is your PM button? How can one manager have such a different take on (this) situation? I don't trust what is going on behind the scenes while I wait for a response. As long as the m.o.d., the 6' tall Indian girl, and the 5'7" tall Indian girl who flipped out on me are still working there, there's not a snowball's chance in hell I'm giving that store any more of my frequently-spent money in there (or perhaps any Wlamart store). 14h
A. Wrighteous The Canadian Walmarts could be next. Go to YouTube and type: "Walmart in deep trouble" . Let me speed things up by dandelion-seeding my anger throughout. She tried to take my phone and I lost data not relevant to her concern. I am NOT obligated to share my personal info with you. 32m
A. Wrighteous As soon as I resisted letting her take the phone away from me, all 3 of them threatened to call the police on me. The 6' tall Indian girl stood in front of the exit gate and appeared that she would use physical constraints to prevent me from leaving. The Indian importees not only NOT know the Canadian law, but these Indian girls could be the holdover from the previous upper management that got fired due to hiring exclusively Indian workers. New Indian hirees get more hours than longer-tenured (non-Indian) workers. 22m
A. Wrighteous As a frequent shopper of the Nanaimo, BC store, I'd expect to be treated with more dignity and given the benefit of the doubt. There was no voyeurism, shoplifting, aggressive behaviour, foul language on my part. Therefore, however right they may have for their concern is overpowered by their wrongs. 16m
A. Wrighteous If only you did not disable your P.M. button I would've kept this b/n us. This took place at around 8:30 a.m. P.S.T..

Read moreI appreciate the selection and variety at this Walmart compared to others on the island, however, customer interaction and expedience could be greatly improved. To be approached by three separate workers at self-check out all trying to push the credit card is incredible irritating. Please respect my no… I shouldn’t have to ask for that. This repeated experience was so bothersome that we opted to try curb-side pick up instead just to avoid these interactions.
Unfortunately my first curb-side experience was less than ideal as well, though I fault half of it on corporate for having poor systems. The pick up location is incredibly unclear, the painted orange “pickup” wall is not event remotely close to where you pick up your order…. Literally on the opposite end of the building. Only found this out because I ultimately headed into the store in person to ask customer service, but the communications issues didn’t stop there.
I distinctly put in my name and contact info for the order, as specified online for it to match the ID for the pick up person if it differs from the account name (my husbands), per Walmart’s direction. I did so, and even included my email and phone number. I received the text messages, but it did not include the order number, nor did I receive an email for the order. This led to a bit of a goose chase in-store to find my order…. For one bag of groceries. I do appreciate the reassurance the worker gave me when I questioned why my order was ready 30 minutes prior to my pick up window when I had frozen items in my order (the have fridges/freezers). As a first time pick-up customer, I would’ve appreciated that info being communicated as I was concerned for my goods.
It was not a big order. This whole ordeal took longer than it would’ve for me to just shop for it myself. I would give zero stars overall, but the two stars are for the individual workers who assisted me in my mobile pick up ordeal, I do appreciate their help amidst my frustration and they deserve credit where credit is due. But otherwise this is has been a repeatedly frustrating Walmart to shop at, with issues that could be very easily resolved, and I hope management takes it into...
Read moreA super store with everything you need for the best prices.
Honestly compared to most other stores you'll find it hard to beat Walmart prices. They are able to provide deals and value and it's hard to beat. Maybe if you optimize Costco you might be able to get better.
This super store has everything you might need and more and I often go here whenever I go to Woodgrove.
Of course, with Walmart it's always busy and very popular and can cause delays, human interaction and errors. The customer service stand here has always delivered excellent help and the tenured managers are all stars.
The biggest issue is Walmart has high turn over and creates a gap in worker experience and overall potential experience of the average shopper. Additionally due to its popularity it can attract less than desirable people in store but nowadays that's a hard thing to avoid in Nanaimo.
I often order delivered groceries from this store. It has been a high variance. When it's good; it's great. Top quality picked food, timely delivery, occasionally even free walmart bags and a smile. When it's bad, it's chaos. Misplaced items, missing bags, wrong orders included in my own, and sometimes a cat and mouse with Walmart help and the store itself.
Recently I had an ordeal of finding an order that was delivered but never came to my home. Turned out a door Dasher dashed away with my groceries. While this was devastating, annoying and very in convenient the tenured manager who's been worker there for 20+ years stepped up and knocked it out of the park. Resolved the issue, got me my groceries, and personally delivered them with a smile. All this on New Year's Eve. While the whole ordeal could've been avoided by better policies or perhaps delivery options. I appreciate management taking action in a positive way.
Overall, good prices, good product, good managers, and a need for better baseline workers (pay them more maybe? Honestly pay...
