Many wonderful vendors. Unfortunately, an inappropriate security guard overstepped his professional role. I spend upwards of $100 dollars there per weekend on momos, crystals, veggies, cheeses, breads, clothing etc, etc and also chauffeur numerous friends to and fro as well.
Today I was shocked at the $40 price tag on a pound of mushrooms and voiced my opinion. I did not yell or swear or call names. I just shared my opinion that $40 per pound was a lot, even for organic, based on my recent shopping experiences in Ontario, BC and Alberta farmer's markets. I then was followed around by this short, gray haired old man, whom if it weren't for his badge, I'd have shooed away for ogling my attractive low cut blouse and breathing down my neck he was standing so close.
After asking him why he was badgering me, he threatened to BAN me permanently from the market. It was uncalled for and humiliating, intimidating and hurtful since I had only shared an opinion that I'm sure I'm not alone in thinking. I was then harassed until I left by this bully of a man who seemingly just enjoyed the power dynamic his position granted him and probably wanted the memories of dominating me for later when he was bored and alone.
I complained to the manager, who said he'd watch the security footage and refresh the heavy handed employee's knowlege of how to properly handle ACTUAL issues, and not waste time over silly...
Read moreAlways pleasant to visit and the vendors are mostly pleasant even if you do not always buy from them although there may be a couple who can be cool and withdrawn unless you spend money on them. Practically every vendor has something different and unique on offer even the produce vendors. The plant shop vendor and the cut flowers vendor are both pleasant to deal with. The food vendors which are essentially the entire first floor is open as an essential needs category of retail and therefore open to walk-in customers.
The upstairs craftsmen and textiles/clothing vendors which are usually open unless we are in pandemic lockdown mode are also equally unique and pleasant to visit and shop from. Definitely worth a visit to this market and a purchase or two!
New vendors selling pastries and fresh and excellent quality seafood have joined the Western Fair Market Family. New we eating court on the second floor provided additional space for eating. Visit and support your...
Read moreHello,
The market does not have enough fans for vendors and customers during heat waves (i.e. June 22, 2024-the visit to the market). It was hard to watch vendors and farmers enduring the lack of movement of air in the facility. This customer left early because of the lack of circulation of air at the Western Fair Market, 900 King Street, London, ON.
Traditionally farmers' markets aren't air conditioned. Having livestock on the premises would definitely cause harm to animals at future endeavors at this location during heat waves particularly.
This customer also left early because the heat in the market was not conducive to persons of disabilities. Cancer treatment individuals cannot tolerate the heat in confined spaces.
The market is a great place to get farm fresh local food. It will be hard to shop there when there is/are heat waves.
Sincerely, A dedicated...
