Super gorgeous green space in Ottawa (there arent many here). I went for my birthday and it was so nice to be able to do something for my second lockdown birthday (where virtually everything is closed). The space is maintained very well and there was not a piece of litter on the ground.

People were distancing for the most part, some odd people here and there entered other peoples personal bubble despite the mass open space. And although masks arent required outdoors it is nerve wracking when people are walking around without one. It's one thing if there is no one around or very distanced away but if you're crossing paths with people it is appreciated to place it on until you exit their space.

One little thing, it would be nice if some of the info plaques on the trees were replaced since they are worn down. And perhaps placing them out in front instead of attached on the tree. The bush and leaves prevents people from reading it. A stand up plaque in front of the trees may help people with low vision and accessibility issues to read it.

Overall though, its an amazing nature area nestled centrally within the city right by dows lake and with minimal noise pollution. A great choice for relaxation like picnics (once that's allowed again), studying, bird watching. As well as a gorgeous setting for photoshoots like weddings, pregnancy and modeling shoots, just be considerate of photographers and people doing these (ex: staying out of the frame, walking around the...

This is one of my favorite spots to visit year-round! Whether it’s spring, summer, fall, or winter, the natural beauty here never fails to impress. The paths are well-maintained and easy to navigate, making it a great destination for people of all ages and fitness levels. You can take a leisurely stroll, go for a jog, or even enjoy a quiet moment sitting and soaking in the serene surroundings.

The views are absolutely stunning, with something new to admire in every season. In the spring, the blooming flowers are vibrant and full of life. Summer brings lush greenery and the perfect weather to spend hours outdoors. Fall is a personal favorite with its breathtaking display of colorful leaves, and in winter, the snow-covered landscapes create a magical atmosphere.

It’s also a fantastic spot for photography, picnics, or just a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life. I love how there’s always something new to explore, whether it’s hidden corners of the park or changing scenery throughout the year.

I highly recommend this spot to everyone, whether you’re a nature lover, photographer, or just someone looking for a peaceful retreat. It’s truly a gem that...

Dominion Arboretum – A Timeless Oasis in the Heart of Ottawa

The Dominion Arboretum is easily one of Ottawa’s most beautiful and underrated treasures—and one of my personal favourite places in the city. Nestled in a convenient, central location, it offers a peaceful escape from the busyness of urban life without ever having to leave town.

What makes the Arboretum truly special is its year-round beauty. In spring, it bursts to life with blossoms, budding trees, and vibrant new growth. In fall, it transforms into a spectacular display of colour, with golden leaves and rich reds painting every path. Even in summer and winter, it holds a quiet charm, whether you’re picnicking by the water or walking along the snow-dusted trails.

The variety of plants and trees grown here is impressive—it’s like a living museum of horticulture. Whether you’re a plant enthusiast or just someone looking for a peaceful place to think, walk, or relax, the Arboretum has something to offer. It’s not just a park; it’s a place to slow down, breathe, and reconnect with nature, right in the heart of Ottawa.

Highly recommended for locals and...
