Doesn't have a lot of stuff or popular stuff found in Asia, maybe due to supply chain issues, but I do love the food and bakery section. There is a genuine creativity and soul to it, and it's appreciative; rush hours are fun, their hot food section often gets emptied out under an hour, and I often get the feeling of being transported to an Asian food market there. They also maintain good standards across those sections. There is an efficiency factor as well, I thought only Germans had that characteristics. However, I wished they mentioned the spices and sauces used to marinate or cook them along with the description for customers sake. Can't say much about the fresh fish section, there are other Asian shops that sell fresher looking fish than they do. Much better option would have been to sell them as packed frozen fish or as consumable products. There is a false thought that Asian stores might sell stuff at an affordable price, due to the cost labour being low, but that is not the case, prices are toe in toe with Canadian grocery prices. They do seem like they stock all the essential items needed, and do have a lot of fresh fruits and veggies that could not be seen in regular Canadian stores. Getting to and out from there by bus is hard, but that doesn't seem to affect the rush at all. I found that they have a lot of skincare products that have centella asiatica in it, and I thought Sephora didn't have products with that as an active ingredient because it was hard to source. Overall, it's uniquely different and nice. I wished other communities had stores like this with products common in their countries. The uncommon one's that are not available through...
Read moreDrove by on a Saturday, around 4 PM, parking lot was FULLL! Luckily, someone was leaving and I didn't have to look long for parking. Exactly like all other T & T Supermarket, but the staff here were extremely friendly and helpful! They spoke English too, not just Mandarin or Cantonese! I gave 4 stars because the line for checkout was like Boxing Day! I guess since it's the only location in Ottawa (as of 01/14/2023), there's just no way around this. All items were in stock, vegetables and fruits were fresh, lots of ready to eat items as well, it's got all that you really want. Prices were alright, and there's an employee at every checkout helping you pack your items (REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR REUSABLE GROCERY BAGS). Just don't go on weekends, the checkout line is at least a 20 minute wait! I saw someone with only a few items, and as soon as he saw the line, he dropped everything and left! There are self-serve checkout counters but the checkout system they have in place is just not efficient enough! Oh, and in true Chinese style, there's also a phone repair stall..., an optometrist with full line of sunglasses and glasses, boba tea stall, insurance stall, and CIK Telecom in there, JUST GO ON A WEEKDAY INSTEAD TO AVOID THE...
Read moreA very big store indeed with lots of choices, they have ready-to-eat meals, such as sushi and a weigh-in buffet, as well as other delicacies. Their bakery is excellent.
As far as the grocery items, well, this is a superstore and you will find all manner of sauces and noodles, fish and other meats, (even things not normally seen in other stores!) and a good selection of fruit and veggies.
They have snacks of all kinds, even some flavors of chips from brand names I was impressed to see. I adore the shrimp flavored chips greatly, and the sweet potato-based ones too, to name some snacks quickly.
If you enjoy Chinese food, Japanese and Korean food (not a huge amount of those however) and some other things, from Southest Asia as well, you might be in paradise.
At times this place can be busy, at other times just pleasant to stroll through. They have a gift shop inside too, and an overall nice atmosphere and ambience.
I've been here a few times, and will return many times more, the only drawback for me personally is it is slightly far from where I live.
Even if you don't purchase anything (but you probably will!) it is a nice experience with lots of delicious things available.
If you haven't been, and are curious, go...
