Email written to Jenny , management and still waiting for acknowledgement. Silent speaks volumes!!!

Good evening,

Was very saddened to see the extreme menu change , but understandable when after the pandemic.

Our server brought our water and we placed our order. While taking a sip I noticed my glass had a big crack down the side and when bought to the attention of our server she said” oh yeah I noticed a crack” and yet still gave it to me.

We ordered the open ended egg rolls and they were half cooked with great flavour. I ordered the beef and broccoli and when it arrived it smelt amazing and the first bite was good. As I continued my stomach was not reacting well with it and I have to run to the bathroom and vomit.

We asked for the bill and the server brought it to us and asked if I wanted a box to take it home and I explained what happened and that it caused me to vomit. She then proceeded to say”oh but that’s out number one item to order, I don’t understand “ and then ring in the full amount and said after we had paid that oh my manager isn’t here or I’d ask to give you a discount.

I must say that her actions tonight after paying $90 bucks for food that makes you vomit and be given a glass that the staff were aware was broken, is absolutely revolting.

So I am asking you for a full refund and can provide you the receipts as proof of us eating there tonight.

I look forward to a prompt response to my email.* ***STILL Waiting FOR...

You go to a Jamaican restaurant, you expect some sort of Caribbean staff/chefs. You go to a Chinese restaurant you expect Asian staff/chefs. You go to a Japanese restaurant and you see the staff making the sushi rolls are white teenage girls.

Should you second guess it and question the skill and authenticity of the sushi being made?

100%.

This is the worst sushi I've eaten in Ottawa. $40 per person for AYCE. We ordered several rolls including the grilled salmon roll, crispy salmon roll, dynamite and a few others in our pictures. The sushi was clearly not fresh and most of the maki rolls were mushy. On the Riverside roll The presentation of the sushi looked like they just slapped on an old piece of salmon on top and drenched it in sauce.

The shrimp tempura batter was thick and tasted like a pogo corn dog and was not crispy. I literally pulled apart most of the batter to eat the shrimp inside as the batter was soft and tasteless.

The sticky rice tasted old and foul. Sweet n sour chicken was surprisingly not bad. And the Szechuan crispy beef was sweet but drenched in sauce.

I had high expectations for this place seeing it on Instagram and seeing that they offer AYCE on Sundays. Walking inside the restaurant, the ambience looked great and inviting and our server was nice and knowledgeable about the menu. But overall, it was an absolute disappointment and it the food was poor quality.

We didn't finish our food because it just...

After not having been to Bambu since before covid, I thought it was time to return. Previously, I've had amazing food there, and thought my boyfriend would really enjoy it. After making a reservation, assuming it would be busy at 7pm on a Saturday, we arrived to a half empty restaurant. We mentioned we had a reservation and were seated by what I assume was a hostess, but she could have been a robot as not a word was said to us as we were walked to our table. Upon seating, the table was wet, not from wiping it down, but from previous guests, and our paper menus were crumpled and dirty! After looking over the menu that I was afraid to touch of course, I noticed that the menu had diminished by 50% since being there Previously. Of course this happens, and I can accept that the dishes I had enjoyed Previously were no longer available. However, I expect alot more from a restaurant if you expect me to pay $18 for an 8oz glass of wine while trying not to touch the dirty, crumpled paper menu in front of me. After sitting for at least 8 minutes with no service at all at our table, we chose to leave. This was something I was looking forward to after telling my boyfriend how great it was. It's unfortunate that their standards are now so low. It's no wonder they were half empty on a Saturday evening, when there used to be a 45 minute wait time without a reservation. I will never return, and you should think twice about...

🛑 Caution 🛑 not worth the prices! Food is mediocre and the cleanliness of the place leaves much to be desired! Staff is friendly, that’s about the only good thing! Keep in mind that I asked our waitress if they’d had a very busy day? She replied “god no! It’s been super slow!” So, I now leave you with this explanation for my review! The sushi bar display case (fridge) looked disgusting! It like it hadn’t been cleaned in a week! Bathrooms were the same, terrible conditions! The floor of the restaurant over all was dirty! Now for the food, the BBQ Pork steamed buns were good, their signature bambú sushi roll, was super bland and nothing special, specially for the price! The Cantonese Chow Mein barely had any flavour, vegetables were crispy! At the end I asked the waitress what percentage of Asian people go to the restaurant to eat, she replied “we serve about 10% Asian, not a lot come here!” Having worked with Asian people since young, one tale tale sign that the food and that the restaurant is good, is that they support the restaurant and a lot of them go there to eat!

The restaurant is aesthetically and thematically very beautiful. Service was polite and food came out quickly. The price is not reasonable, it is incredibly expensive for the amount of food you’re receiving. The quality and taste of the food is no better than the AYCE restaurants. It honestly appears as if this is an AYCE restaurant trying to compete with higher end sushi restaurants. The sushi itself was not flavourful nor fresh, they were cut very unevenly and overall not pleasant. The soup comes in a small bowl and was bland. At the bottom of the soup was something grainy, either from the flavouring of the soup or the dirt from the vegetables. I do not see why anyone would come here when there are AYCE restaurants relatively near by. It would be cheaper or the same prices, significantly more food and the same quality/taste and variety. After spending $80 for 2 people here, I had to go the the supermarket next door, T and T and buy sushi for more than half the price and it was so much more tastier.
