This weekend we found about this café by chance, while it has been opened since January (10 months ago). The food is exceptional, the service is excellent, and the atmosphere is modern and welcoming.
As the pictures show, we tried a variety of items, from sweet to savory, and every single item was flawless. The food is prepared authentically, respecting traditional recipes and flavors, and the desserts are so decadent with obvious use of quality ingredients. It was also the first time that I ever try a mastika version of Turkish coffee, and it was amazing. Not to mention their baklava, it's exquisite and the Dubai chocolate version of their San Sebastian cheesecake is a true delicacy.
The service was genuinely friendly and came with big smiles. The interior decor is trendy and it's a beautiful mix of traditional and modern Turkish vibes.
I gave TAKSIM all 5 stars because it deserves every bit of it. That being said, I do have a couple of suggestions for improvement. First, they need to change the shop sign that's above the entrance, or at least make the name bigger. It's not obvious that a beautiful café is located in that strip mall ... you can easily pass by and ignore it. Secondly, and more importantly, they should get rid of that station where it's insinuated that you need to bring the plates/cups after you're done. When customers give a tip, they expect full service. Plus, I've been to TAKSIM Street in Turkey and there's no way that any café in Istanbul would suggest you do this. That's not part of the Turkish hospitality and tradition, so it would be important for a Turkish themed café here in Ottawa to maintain that as well.
I highly recommend you visit TAKSIM Sweets and Bakes. It will definitely become one of your favorite spots in...
Read moreFirst of all , this is for the manager, the food was good, even I was disappointed that I ordered shakhshukha and lot later I've been told they run out of it, it took them half-hour to know it, very disappointing, they offered to choose something else, 😔 I did change for the cold platter even I hate eating something cold for a brunch, we paid more than 130$ for three people, it's a restaurant price but not what comes with it: no water on the table, no napkins and so and so, so to the manager, if you want to keep your café looking good there is more input to make , the quality of the service has to be improved, having two young girls dealing with all the demands, one of them starting her training, there is definitely more input from the management level to improve Sorry but I've been very disappointed, no water on the table and canceling your order half-hour after the order has been made and paying like a dinner in a restaurant, I doubt, I will be back, I wish I was able to give you five stars 🌟 but the manager has to make a lot of improvements for me to be back, hope you will improve...
Read moreTaksim Cafe in Ottawa is truly a gem! Just like the iconic Taksim Square in Turkey, this cafe brings together people from many different cultures in a refined and welcoming atmosphere. The food is incredibly fresh and flavorful—almost everything is made in-house daily, which you can really taste in every bite.
It’s a perfect spot for a family breakfast. We enjoyed a lovely, traditional breakfast accompanied by nostalgic Turkish classical music playing softly in the background. The coffee and desserts were absolutely delightful and made the experience even more special.
One of the most beautiful aspects of this cafe is that the entire team is made up of women, which brings a unique touch of elegance and care to the space. Everywhere you look, there's attention to detail and aesthetic warmth. The staff are very polite and respectful, and the owner, Mrs. Muzine, personally greets and connects with every guest. Her warmth and hospitality truly stand out.
The ambiance is peaceful, the space is very clean, the food is delicious, and the prices are very reasonable. Highly...
