If you're touring this city don't bother coming here.

I came to the Summer kick off event today and they were giving cookies before you go in to see the museum. So I was just following everyone else. In front of me was a group of mostly white adults/teens and the two old white ladies were all smiling and kind and giving everyone a cookie. Then a bunch of kids cut in front of me, and they are all nice and smiling and giving cookies to the white kids, but for for the 3 brown kids they were so rude and giving death glares and were acting like they were being forced to give them cookies. So then I go up to them and just smiling and saying hello, and they just freaking glaring at me and say it's only for the kids. And I'm all confused cuz they gave cookies to the white adults in front of me, and so I ask them again incase i just didnt hear right. And they are like full on glaring and clenching their jaws and told me very rudely to get out of line. Mind you it doesn't say anywhere that it's only for kids.

Then later after walking around the house, I was a bit upset so I left. But when I was leaving, right next to the table is this big group of white girls, older then me, clearly in their mid 20s and all munching on freaking cookies. And next to them I see the racist white old ladies denying cookies to this brown family with a little kid and they are still so rude and glaring at them.

The house was beautiful, but as someone who is new to this city, this was not a good experience for me and I will be sure to let all my friends know not to come...

I was back 'home' with my children for a month and wanted to show them the history or Regina, so a stop to Government House was a must.

We took the guided tour along with my mom (who has been there several times) and the tour guide was very good, even taking extra time at the end to spend time with my children who had many questions for her.

After the tour, we visited the children's playroom in the basement, which my children loved; most especially my daughter who loved dressing in period costume and using the play kitchen to bake up all manner of meals and treats for her 'guests' who arrived by horse and cart.

My children enjoyed their experience so much in fact, that we had to make another 2 trips for them to visit the museum and interactive areas. In this day of constant technology change, it was fun for us parents and grandparents to watch the children learn how 'old' televisions, telephones, etc. worked while using them to learn about Canadian and Saskatchewan history.

After the museum closed, we enjoyed a walk through the gardens and appreciated the shade during the 35C heat, too.

My children have made this location a must-do and already have it at the top of their lists of things to do the next time we visit...

I loved the Government House Museum after two visits and need to visit a third time to finish the tour. Normally this Museum would only take one visit, but first attempt, I left the Hostel with my South Korean sidekick tour partner whom goes by the alias ........ Hopkins ! .......... a little late. Anyway, after taking us on a one hour added to our trip really long short cut we arrived 20 minutes before closing and so we split up dashing around the house trying to take as many photos as humanly possible within are limited time budget. Day two we arrived an hour and a half before closing and didn't quite wrap up the full house tour. This is a must see Museum for everyone, singles, couples, families and is wheelchair accessible. The security staff and Lovely Hostess are friendly, professional and knowledgeable about the History of Government House and exhibits enhancing the overall experience of this must see Museum for Canadians and tourists alike. The admittance is free plus you take home a 49 colour page Government House booklet absolutely free, but there is a donation box for those whom appreciate Government House enough to offer a...

It's a beautiful/historic building and admission is free with optional guided tour. Although I enjoyed going through the rooms, it was distracting because the tour guide and a security guard followed me around everywhere (even though I asked for a self-guided tour). I was the only visitor at the time and they followed me up the stairs as soon as I went to see the second level - and I could see them reposition themselves to keep me in view when I'd go to look at something out of their sight. It felt super weird. They made conversation with each other which I could hear, and I think I unwittingly paid more attention to that than the actual exhibits. I wouldn't say they were unfriendly necessarily, and I get they were just doing their jobs (all museums keep an eye on visitors).. but it was very unnerving and I couldn't fully enjoy my visit. I think if I wasn't the only visitor it wouldn't have been so obvious they were following me around.

Government House is truly a hidden gem and an absolute must-visit! Best of all, it's completely free, which makes it a fantastic option for a budget-friendly day out with family or friends. The place is incredibly well-maintained, and the staff and volunteers are some of the friendliest, most passionate people you'll meet. Their warmth and knowledge really enhance the whole experience. It’s a very family- and kid-friendly spot, with lots to explore and learn. The history, the exhibits, and the interactive areas make it both fun and educational. The beautiful garden outside is a peaceful retreat—perfect for photos, quiet walks, or letting the kids explore nature safely. Whether you're looking to spend quality time with loved ones or just enjoy a serene afternoon, Government House offers a wonderful experience for everyone. Highly recommended!

My visit to Government House was nothing short of captivating. As I stepped onto the beautifully lanscaping grounds, I was struck by the grandeur of the historic building before me. The architecture exuded an air of elegance and timelessness, hinting at the rich history contained within its wall. Inside, guided tours led me through a journey of discovery, unveilling the stories and secrets of Saskatchwan past. From the ornate State Room adorned with period furnishings to the cozy family quarters, each room revealed a different facet of the province's heritage. Overall, my experience at Government House was both enlightening and enchanting. It's a must-visit destination for anyone with an interest in history, archtiecture, or simply a desire to explore the beauty of Regina, Saskatchewan.
