DO NOT BUY GRAVEL HERE. I just sent my husband for a 1/2 yard of gravel (2-4 river rock) as I couldn’t find it anywhere else on a Sunday and just wanted to get the final touches done on our landscaping… thinking it would be a tiny bit more expensive than the other 1/2 yard loads I had got elsewhere of the same size and stone. As a note, I had been paying $70/ half yard elsewhere. They just charged my husband $177.60 and change. It’s dirty as hell, half mud and $100 over the other guys. I would literally return it and shovel it back out myself if they’d let me. I cannot believe a local company thinks it’s ok to gouge people that bad for something like rocks. Save yourself and go to rock bros. I don’t work for them, am not affiliated in any way but that’s where I’ve been buying my gravel. It’s cheap, clean and easy to get (I’m usually in and out in 10 mins loaded in our 1/4 ton truck). I never would have expected that sort of inappropriate business practice from Wilson’s, but they just lost a long time plant customer.
Edit: while I do appreciate you exchanging the rock, it did take 30 mins to drive to you and half a morning to do the exchange, including one of your staff having to manually shovel all that rock. James (who I had initially spoken to on the phone regarding returning the rock) was hesitant to attend to me himself, until the final staff member he sent me to still needed his input. The explanation that he (manager) had for the amount of dirt, sticks and grass was due to his staff not effectively cleaning the bucket between materials. The price explanation is that they buy “special” river rock from northern Alberta instead of purchasing Saskatchewan rock. While the rocks I have been buying elsewhere may not have been as consistently round, they are clean, very unique and much more colorful. I would 100% still maintain my review as spending that much for the shape of a rock (in my eyes) is bizarre as the shape of other rocks are also mostly round as they are not crushed. The rocks I was provided in lieu still looked like dirty, drab (all brown and white) potatoes. Let’s support Saskatchewan and not purchase rock from Alberta, when there is minimal difference.
The gentleman that shoveled all that rock probably needs a raise as I was also informed that majority of your yard staff has either been fired or quit over...
Read moreCustomer service through email was horrible. I had purchased 4 big plants for Wilsons on the same day. I always allow my new plants 5 days to a week with no anything. I allow it to adjust to the new elements. Within the 1st 3 days I had noticed one of the big plants started to drop leaves rapidly and big black circles with yellow around them started to appear. I knew instantly this was fungal infection as my experience for years with plants Ice I treated this plant with fungal spray and left it for 3more days.within that three days it had dropped over half It's leafs and looked extremely sick. With the other three plants that I purchased the same day from the same place doing extremely well and having no signs of sickness I decided to Email wilsons to check on their Return policy as this plant was sick before purchase. The response that I got back from Wilson's in email was not what I was expecting. I was told through email "at the till you were told. This was a final sale And buying live plants you know the risk involved, then I was told through the same email that this was not fungal infection that it was actually over watering and now was turning into a fungal infection?? I had not even watered the plant yet. Then I was given instructions on how to fix the overwatering problem. I never offered any refund Or return? Now how do I purchase this plant at a small store personally Owned I would have either received a return or my money back. Unfortunately Wilsons was not concerned about customer satisfaction at this point and didn't offer anything for me. Customer satisfaction is utmost important being a business owner myself. I am disappointed that Wilson did not honor customer service and instead blame the customer. I will not be purchasing any more plants due to the customer service that I received on buying a sickly plant from...
Read moreFirst off, there phone greating is the most annoying phone greating in the world. I want a quick speech so I can get through to a human faster, not a comical speech with a fake accent introducing the store. People already hate dealing with robots on phones, so please make it more simple and quick. Also, when I do, rarely, manage to get a human they are don't know anything about what I am asking (even in their department), or they transfer me to someone who never answers. I live about 30 minutes away, I don't always want to potentially waste an hour to find out going there is pointless.
The manager at the pro/rental shop is amazing. Super knowledgeable, and not afraid to chat with customers allowing you to never feel rushed or neglected.
Store is clean, well organized, and straight forward. I, personally, only ever use the pro shop when I go as I do find the store tends to be over priced compared to many other local stores. I get that it is the convenience of having about 7 different types of stores in one place, but they don't blend together. How often will I do going to shop for my pets while needing a mower, a buying a weed trimmer and an engagement ring, some mulch for the garden and some paintings to hang. At least at home depot I know everything is to do with renovating your house. At Wilson's it's just a miss mash of random industries in one location- beyond the greenhouse, bulk yard, and pro shop.
Like I said, I like the store, HATE their phone greeting/service, amazing proshop staff, but majority of Wilson's is over priced for the most part when compared to other local specialty stores. Beyond their greenhouse and pro shop, I can often drive somewhere closer to home for a lot cheaper than wilson's while keeping it local. That reason alone I...
