The Machine Shop is undeniably a beautiful and rustic venue, making it one of the top choices for those seeking a picturesque location for their wedding. The ambiance it provides is truly remarkable, creating a captivating setting for any special occasion. The staff, in general, is friendly and accommodating, eager to help bring your vision to life.
However, there was one notable downside we experienced during our wedding planning journey at The Machine Shop. We found ourselves frustrated by the frequent changes in staff, which created a sense of instability and made it difficult for us to relax and trust that everything would run smoothly on our big day. Therefore we found ourselves frequently having to follow-up with management otherwise we would either be overcharged or things would be missed.
Furthermore, it's essential to be aware that The Machine Shop takes regulations seriously. While this is certainly important for safety and compliance, it's worth noting that there are strict rules in place, such as a 20-minute wait between shots, which might not align with everyone's vision for their celebration.
Additionally, we noticed that The Machine Shop has become more expensive recently, and there were some unexpected upcharges that added to our overall costs. We were lucky enough to have our original contract to have them fall back on. While the venue's charm and beauty are undeniable, it's advisable for future couples to carefully consider their budget and review all potential expenses to ensure they align with their expectations.
Lastly, we found that The Machine Shop does not like to take accountability for their actions. For a wedding of 230 individuals, mistakes were made on the entree and the dessert. When bringing these concerns to management, they refused to give us a deduction on the invoice, were only willing to give us a $125 gift card, ignored us, and refused...
Read moreOne of the worst services experiences I’ve ever had a restaurant was at Blockhouse Pub. I was there twice over the weekend. The first evening the waitress was rude to us and spoke very condescending to us over which table options we were given. Afterwards our draft beers were under poured and not cold. The second time was two days later for breakfast. We arrived around 11:30 and our order was taken roughly 15 minutes later which was great. After waiting about 30 minutes for our food the waitress came over and explained that it was just slow this morning with the large amount of people they had and we were understanding of this. About 10 minutes later our waitress came back with two plates of food that were not our order and she left confused. Finally at 1250 which was not over an hour with out receiving our food we spoke to one of the other waitresses who we were told was in charge this morning and explained what happened. She could not give us an answer and appeared uninterested in the poor services. Our waitress then came to our table and stated that she did put our order in however blamed the kitchen stating they had lost the order. Regardless, after 30 minutes the wait staff should have then questioned the kitchen on where the order was. Our waitress did not write down our order and did not appear to actually remember what we ordered. We explained that at this point we did not have time to wait anymore and had to leave and that we were not going to be paying for the coffee or anything at this point which they were fine with. The staff working had very poor customer service. I will never eat there again or recommend their...
Read moreIt's average, and extremely expensive.
The whole place edges on the side of being fancy for the rich people, and being rustic for the more middle class to lower class folk- and the bill is in that range as well. It's not 'too' absurd and is readily 'affordable' as a fancy dinner party you can have once every few months...
But what are you really getting out of the Machine Shop? About the same quality food you can get cheaper anywhere else, with the added option of getting some admittedly good alcoholic beverages that will burn an even larger hole in your wallet.
The chicken I've had here has been some of the worst, the fries weren't that good either. But everything else has been average- like their appetizers are usually rather good.
Of course, I have to mention the pizza here as is the sole purpose of my posts is to talk about pizza. Its... Well, I don't mean to say it's bad because it isn't- its just bland. 'Its pizza' you say to yourself, 'it doesn't need to wow you'. But you realize this is one of the fancier well known restaurants in town and you realize this also costs more than the average- and it turns the whole experience off.
Don't bother unless you're...
