Let me start by saying this was the best food we had in Sault Ste. Marie. Some of the best breakfast food I’ve had in a long time. So let me break it down:
Food: 10/10 Firstly, the home fries were cut up BY HAND and were literally the best ones I’ve ever had. I had pancakes, swapped out bacon for fried bologna, and eggs. My husband had a cheese omelet, home fires, and wheat toast. We were both in pain by the time we left. Made the mediocre and overpriced food we’ve had this weekend worth it. If they served alcoholic beverages we would’ve been there morning noon and night.
Service: 10/10 Heather and Lisa were the two on the floor and they again, gave me some of the best customer service I’ve had probably ever. I would say this was the best service I’ve had because it was thanksgiving, a full house, and they were ringing people out as well as answering the phone. With amazing attitude I might add. I probably would’ve passed out if I ever got service on a holiday like that in the states. Let be real. It ain’t happening.
Atmosphere: 7/10 This is a “mom and pop” restaurant so I didn’t expect much for decor. That being said, it felt very homey and we were comfortable.
If you’re looking for something equivalent of what your mom would make on a holiday full of family members, go here. We felt invited, didn’t feel intrusive, and she left us alone to eat instead of checking in every 5 minutes.
Anytime we visit, I’m going here. It’s...

This small cafe is certainly not trying to be something it's not. Embrace the dated decor and furnishing, the Bronx-style neighborhood complete with a parking lot screaming "call 911 in advance", and the constant flow of sketchy regulars and go in and understand how refreshingly original this place is.
The food portions are typically massive, and even though they don't use cheese curds for their poutines they manage to do the trick when you're hungry. The best part: a huge (small) poutine will have an average person well filled and would cost less and taste better then fast food.
The staff are always the friendliest servers I've encountered and clearly have a gift for dealing with drunken bar-hoppers (myself included in the past). The perfect amount of comforting and almost motherly demenor mixed with a "do-something-stupid-and-I'll-throw-hot-gravy-in-your-face" makes it a great after hours retreat to fuel an oncoming hangover.
Without a doubt the best place to go in Sault Ste Marie for afterhours food, and even worth a stop for a regular meal. Granted this was the first time I went to West Side sober, it was...
Read moreWhen I reviewed this place last, I didn't have any tattoos, and apparently, that makes a huge difference! If you have tattoos, don't expect any type of good service! The waitress had no problem serving all the other patrons of the restaurant and was super friendly with everyone else, but when it came to serving us for the first time ever it was a problem. She left our food to sit and get cold, ensuring to help everyone else. We waited patiently to get our drinks refilled, and she gave us a dirty look and avoided us completely! It clearly wasn't a racial issue, as she's been friendly with us in the past. The only thing that has changed about me in recent years was getting tattoos (tasteful flowers). When we tried speaking to the co-owner he made it very clear he shares her views on tattoos, hopefully this is informative enough for people to decide on where to eat. As for us, we'll never return, they lost our family...
