Lakewood Park South — Attraction in Tecumseh

Lakeshore park in town of Tecumseh. They have done a great job converting the old town golf course into beautiful green space. Beautiful area to enjoy the outdoors in the middle of town. Nice paved walking trail, 1.6 kms around the park. They have established a disc golf course (free of charge) for public use. Always people out playing it. A small climbing rock for the kids and an outdoor workout space for adults as well. The run-off ditch is nice when full of water, attracts lots of birds including a grey heron. The beach on the lake is small but they keep it pretty clean. Never see many people swimming, then I noticed there is lots of seaweed and the bottom is "mucky", so I understand why not many people in the water. It's nice to see people out enjoying picnic meals on the water front. Every year they seem to improve a little something more, good job Town...

It's a great area for walking and biking, scooters, rollerblading. Usually see people walking their dogs and families. Long nice trails and dirt ones that's not too muddy. Lots of green spaces and trees. Some bridges made of steel and one wooden one that probably should be remade. There's disc golf and signs. Maps and some information about the park. The restrooms are located across Tecumseh Road and in front of the beach. Plenty of parking spaces are available at both entrances of the park. Lots of garbage cans available and they get emptied. Actually 2 distinct parks. North of R'side Drive and south. North has a small beach, a short walkway along the water and beautiful views of the lake and sunsets. Limited parking on this side. South park has a wide range of paved paths for walking or jogging. Also a small snack stand. Lots of room for picnics on the grass but no tables. Larger parking lot. The park usually has a couple of events in late spring and summer. The park is located on the site of Lakewood Golf Course which Tecumseh purchased.
