John's Meat Shop — Attraction in Thorold

We travelled 1 hour (each way) to go to John's Meat Shop thanks to the recommendation of a close family friend who lives in St. Catharines. Small shop with friendly staff. Most of their 'store made' items are not priced. As recommended we bought some sauce $3/500ml (also available with mushrooms $5 or sausage - price unknown), some meatballs (packaged in containers of 15 without sauce $10 or 6 in sauce $9.50). We thoroughly enjoyed their lasagna roll-ups, 6 for $8.50, along with some of their plain sauce for dinner last night. OMG!!! No wonder our friend recommended this place and now so do we WITHOUT HESITATION. My only negative is that they do not offer payment via debit/credit and only accept cash or cheque. Who does that, especially during a pandemic? Therefore only rated as 4 stars instead of 5. Let me start by saying that John’s Meat Shop has some extremely fresh products. I called ahead to see what kind of sandwiches they offered and John recommended I have their chicken cutlet sandwich. This sandwich was absolutely delicious. The bread bun was amazingly fresh and the roasted red peppers and spread were flavourful with a nice hint of spice. I genuinely really enjoyed this sandwich and could not even eat the whole thing! For $9 it does not get better than that. They only accept cash or cheque! The very friendly staff will ask you exactly what cut you are looking for, and will show it to you before your purchase.
