Hey family,
Here’s an honest review of my visit to Broadacres Park located at The West Mall & Burnhamthorpe Road. I made the visit on Jan 6, 2022 and I wanted to share my experience with you below:
Location/ Park amenities: 1 star A 5.7 hectare park near Burnhamthorpe Road and The West Mall featuring a ball diamond, a children's playground and a large open green space. Should you visit here with a little one there is plenty for them to do. One amenity that could potentially go here is a nice splash pad considering there is a pool down the street. Aside from that, this park offers a lot. Note* There are NO washrooms on site.
Staffing: 1 star I’ve noticed the city does stay on top of the maintenance of this property. It is a shared space with the Shaver site which I believe is a heritage site. Garbage and curb appeal are maintained so this gets a 1 out of 1 for me.
Equipment: Half a star All of the Broadacres park equipment is clean, maintained and safe to use. There are different elements that make it fun for children including a jungle gym and swing set. It all looks new-ish so no complaints here compared to some of the older parks in the city.
Service: 1 star This park has a level C service for the baseball diamond. It’s as follows: Not irrigated, Home Plate, Groomed 1 time per week, Cut 1 time per week, Aerified 1 time annually, Fertilized 1 time annually, Overseeded 1 time annually, Topdressed 1 time annually
Wow factor: Half a star The wow factor for Broadacres is the dedicated size and green space. It seems a bit unusual to have a park this big in the heart of Etobicoke but the city can definitely utilize this green space in a better way to serve a lot of the condos and apartments AND homes nearby. We always like going for a walk past here.
I always enjoy rating parks and public space as they are used by many people and serve the community in many different ways. I hope this review helps make your park visiting decision easier In total I give it a 4 out of...
