Sunday, 21 June 2020, Father's Day, the day after Solstice, the wild rose bushes that line the Doris McCarthy Trail are in bloom, if you take a slow walk you can take in the sights and scents of the abundant flowers, with the sounds of plenty of bees buzzing around and the stream running in the background. There are still a few rose hips hanging around which you could gather and try sowing. At the lake you can go right/west to go towards Scarborough Bluffs Park (inaccessible unless you swim) or left/east towards Guild Park and Gardens, about 5 kms one way. While walking along the lake you can spot holes in the cliffs where birds nest. This is my favourite walk down to the shore of Lake Ontario. Original: Visit Gates Gully using the Doris McCarthy Trail while there's strong winds blowing off the Lake Ontario and when you get to the water you will be treated to a spectacular sight and sound show of waves crashing into the shore. Very ocean like. Even better as the sun is closer to setting. Probably the only trail that literally goes down to the lake in Torornto. It's crushed limestone over dirt and easily walked but riding back up on a bicycle would be challenging. Visited October 5, 2019 around 4:15 PM.

What a peaceful place it is! Wide view of Ontari lake, white stones makes the place so beautiful. There is around 30 minutes sharp slope to view the lake. We were so amazed by the lake view that we did not go through the whole trail. We spent 3 hours by the lake. However, saw a pizza box on the stone, it was really sad to see people doing that to such a nice place. Not a very comfortable place for picnic, at there's no wide space to sit and eat. Road side parking, and didn't see any washroom.

Outstanding area, beautiful and scenic. Winding down the hills from Doris McCarthy Trail then you arrive at Gates Gully and all the large stones placed around to stop and sit, relax. This is one of the best most interesting and beautiful areas to visit in Scarborough. You'll enjoy every inch of the trail and all sides of the gorge. Then after leaving Gates Gully you'll start to see the blue sky over Lake Ontario and it is so amazing to see and capture.

Quiet natural area with gurgling creek, birds and wild flowers. The walk down and up is about 1 kilometre. Going down the incline is visible and deceptively gradual. It is steep, with glimpse of Lake Ontario. It leads to the shore where you can see across the water with the full height of the Scarborough Bluffs just behind you. An interesting sculpture has been placed there. I could not see any paths along the lake so you need to go back up the same path. The walk up is more daunting - probably took double the time with a few stops to...
