ViPei Bistro — Restaurant in Toronto

TL;DR Solid 4 stars & will be coming back to eat here again in the future. Minus 1 star because website prices are out of date; expect to pay somewhere between $1 to $3 more than the website's prices.

I had the foccacia chicken club sandwich and felt it was pretty yummy. I ordered it without bacon and tomato and they got it right :) I was really happy with the food I got - it came with fries (extra crispy, even after a 15 minute walk in the heat, which is seriously impressive!), mixed greens and a small fresh fruit cup. The fruit cup alone would've cost $2 or $3 if I'd bought it from a store, so the whole meal at $12+tax seemed like a great deal to me.

My only issue with the restaurant is that their website pricing is incorrect - most of the menu has increased in price. This meal was advertised as $9 when it's now actually $12. The waitress was great and worked something out with me when I picked up the order, so I'm happy with how things went and know what to expect going forward.

Overall I was satisfied with my experience. I felt the food and proportion for the price-point were both good and I'll be coming back again... and will ready for a $1-$3 increase in price from the website's current prices, which I still believe is...

The staff was extremely rude. We arrived only to be told (with out any apologetic tone) that there was a long wait and we were basically turned away. There is one server that served us on our last visit, I do not know her name, she was a kind and caring server who has the customer service principles and attitude to support ViPei’s high price points. This older women was miserable the last time and even more so on this particular visit. She definitely needs additional training on how to treat customers!

The food that we ordered for the most part was ok, but my omelette that was not good. It was very wet and soggy. Thankfully, that same kind server replaced it and handled things correctly.

The place is very small and does not accommodate very many people, with this in mind, one would think that the staff would be prepared to handle overflow with more poise and professionalism. Very disappointing!

Side note: there is limited parking, limited eating space, not wheelchair accessible, and nowhere to be seated when there is a...

Vi Pei is a hidden gem in the Bluffs with a strong following of locals. It is my favourite, ‘go to’ dining spot with exceptionally prepared food. Siva, the owner, is the chef. Cuisine is his life’s mission and he takes immense pride in preparing food. I tell him his scallops are the best in the city! He regained control of Vi Pei in the summer of 2024 after a number of years when others ran it. It is my neighbourhood dining spot for brunch, lunch, dinner and take out. The menu is very interesting with choices to accommodate all palates. For dinner, the tables have tablecloths, cloth napkins, candles. The wait staff are very competent and go beyond to please those whom they serve. Yeah Janice! I organize monthly luncheons at Vi Pei, dine in with friends and take out pizza which is delicious but only available for take out.
