Great place where 99%+ of the people are very pleasant and friendly….
However, there’s a 35 year old divorced Irish man (6,1’, thin, with short, brown hair, and ‘typical trash’ arm tats) that lives in the basement of his parent’s house at 44 Florens Avenue (Scarborough West) with his dog, Stella, a pure breed husky (typical white and grey coat). I've also seen him skateboarding with the dog and driving in a black, older model, toyota 4 runner.
This dog has attacked my dog numerous times, with the last attack resulting in $1400 vet bills (23 stitches and she’s a 100 lbs dog..). When I asked what the dog's name was, he gave me a fake name and while i was checking my dogs injuries, the scoundrel just took off. No apology. No offer to pay for injuries.
Even though this extremely anti-social individual knows how dangerous his dog is, he continues to run with the dog, in the trail - with not only no leash , but also no collar or harness (and obviously no muzzle on the dangerous dog). Shocked to see this the other day, the male actually yelled at me…a few screws loose for sure …
There’s been an alarming, rising trend of dog attacks in the city and it’s because of irresponsible owners like this male.
Please be especially careful with medium and smaller dogs (which would likely not survive such an attack) and kids.
This individual is running with the dog off-leash, so the risk is they come up from...
Read moreA large wooded area with lots to explore and has a small stream. Lots of positives, that are plagued by a few very unfortunate negatives. A generally nice place to walk and bike along the trail. Small free parking lot on the Southern West end, which also contains a off leash dog park. The two ends of the trail sit between two subways stations for easy access. Takes about 30mins or more depending on your speed or what other sections you want to explore. Will see small wildlife sometimes and has two bridges to cross. Lots to explore, but supposedly contains some poisonous plants in the area (there is a warning sign). Very few people and the trail is paved, unless you move off trail to explore. It's nice to have in the area. The negative, and this is the reason for the reduced rating, is the smell. At certain sections, especially the Southern West half, there is a number of storm or sewage drains that line the path. You can generally hear what sounds like a waterfall or a loud stream or running water. The sound doesn't really bother you, but that sewage like smell can get pretty bad a times. The large amount of wooded area, also means people will lounge around, hidden away and even maybe secretly camp. So you'll find trash and even a makeshift fire pit within. I haven't run into squatters or anything like that, but I've seen evidence of someone spending at least a...
Read moreIt's a pleasure to continue the walk up stream, to Warden Woods. At Taylor Creek, there is a paved trail, that is perfect for cyclists, joggers, and strollers, while the North side is more wooded and perfect for the dog walker. Here, at Warden Woods, the design is the same, with the Eastern side being paved and winding, while the Western side is wooded. The difference is that there is a wider, flatter wooded trail here, as opposed to Taylor Creek, where the wooded trail area is the embankment. At Warden Woods, the Western trail is full of trees and split trails, that move towards and away from Massey Creek. Not a good place to go after a good rain, since temporary ponds form. The creek has recently been rebuilt with giant block walls, to stop the erosion of the steeper banks, as the creek winds it way down to Taylor Creek Park, and finishing in the Don River. There are few cars and a smallish dog park, which is rarely used. We generally walk the wooded area, until we reach a point in the creek that we can cross to head back down, on...
